Well, this sucks. According to SCEA's Al de Leon, the extended battery life kit for PSP is discontinued. The product nearly doubled the battery life on PSP-2000 systems, but came at a slight aesthetic price: a larger battery cover would be installed, creating a bulge in the system. However, with battery life as impressive as 12 hours or more, we were absolutely satisfied with the peripheral.
"Yes, we are discontinuing this product as we look for other opportunities to service the consumer," notes de Leon. Hopefully, we'll see something else that can augment the PSP's battery life.

How come more articles on this site dissapoint rather than satisfy the things I want. I know it's not the sites fault but rather Sony. Sony just has a big bag of dissapointment and releases its contents slowly over a long period of time.

Sadly they are Very scarce now and those that still have them KNEW they were going "Bye-Bye" so have since Jacked up the price. I was looking for this kit about 2 weeks ago in Prep for my Japan Trip and as such had to resort to the "Alternative means" of buying a couple of 3rd PT Supposed 2400 Batteries. And I'll just change em out when I get too low.

Thank God I buy mine few months ago, is great, 10+ battery life, the bulk is nothing, I get use to it very fast, I use to charge my PSP 5-6 time in a week, no I do it 2-3 times, I play every day...
And I like to play with max sound and bright, playing GoW in a slim with the normal battery, max sound and bright, and yo can barely play 2 hours...
And is a normal thing, but it also takes a lot to fully charge it...

If you ever considered the purchase at any time, get it while you can. Battery cover too.

Anyone know if my PSP will still fit in this case with an extended battery attached? I want to pick one up but not until I know it will fit.

if a psp 1000 or "fat" can fit in there , the slim with the bulk can perfectly fit there because the bulk its the same size as the psp fat battery door.

As soon as I saw them disappear off my local store shelves I picked one up online immediately. Glad I did, the extra battery life is oh so nice. It looks like bestbuy.com still has them, so I guess they're not too rare yet.

This is a bizarre move by Sony. Why would they cut down on this kind of support? Maybe they have come up with an extended battery that is Slim size? Doubtful, but if that isn't the reason for discontinuing the battery, then it is a bad move.

WTF?!?!?
They can't do this (well actually they can) I need one of those now. My PSP isn't holding a charge like it used to. WTF Sony?! Are y'all retarded or something?

I just saw a bunch of those at my local Future Shop. I was going to pick one up, but they already jack the prices up on everything anyway.....I'll just wait for the new battery to come out. There must be another model of battery, right? Right? Sony isn't completely clueless, right?

The good news is that the battery will probably go on clearance at places like Walmart. :)

I still see a couple of these around at the Superstore since they are hidden at the back shelves of the entertainment section, the prices never change though. This does explain why i saw them slowly dissapearing after they started stocking up with the skype headsets and the slim traveller case 2k

This battery is the easiest venue to create a "service battery." You can find them for about $40, less than the price of one game. Its easier to pop open and clip the icc leg than any other battery. It's no wonder Sony wants to can it. They'll replace it with something that is not as easily hacked.

actually I had a fat psp before I got a slim, so I got this thing so I could use my extended batts on my slim, I just used my slim bat to make pandora, although mine was software and not hardware.
still it is sad that they are stopping making that. I knew several people whom did not even know that it was made until they saw this.

how much were they, originally? I know I always held back because the bastards wouldn't sell it with a white cover.
Oh well, who cares, non-sony batteries are 10 bucks.
