noob learn how to post once i had a psp with official firmware in the beginning and the only games i bought new were greatest hits versions of need for speed most wanted syphon filter dark mirror and battlefront II i also bought madden new and two umd movies for 5 bucks each i consider the psp my successor to the game boy advance a system that im rarely going to use id much rather pay for a new blockbuster 360 game that im going to get more playtime out of then one of the psp's blockbuster titles thats only good for 10 hours.because of this i usually buy my games used i knew about cfw since it came out but didnt want to bother with it until i was able to get a pandora battery on the cheap since then ive pirated a few games and thats about it i still rarely use my psp and focus on 360 gaming. the fact of the matter is i could care less about you or anyone else who is affected by me getting games for free because thats the mentality everyone else has, if i stopped it would not even make a dent in stopping piracy. noonee is going to be able to stop piracy on any system the ps3 has only been safe because of the bluray format not because of some steller security

First of all, I did not receive any emails asking me to confirm my email for posting, not my fault that this particular website uses a flawed system.
Second of all, don´t call anyone noob, it just shows the world that you´re around 13.
And the point of your reply is what? You are a thief...yes I get that...all you did was confirm my earlier statements.
I don´t pirate games, hence not everyone has that mentality, lots of my friends(not the aforementioned douches) buy their games, I myself buy 3-5games every month(not counting PSN purchases), but then again I am an adult and I have a job.
Just because you don´t think it gives you entertainment enough for the price you pay, does´nt mean you are allowed to steal it, why is this so hard to get into your head.
Oh and one more thing, punctuation and the splitting up of sentences are your friends.

There would be more games if Sony and its devs could make better money out of it. Unfortunately the thieves are too many.
I remember when stealing was taboo. It happened, but few were proud or arrogant enough to brag or mention it aloud. I'm sick of people mentioning how they bought a pirate DVD, or have pirated games, without batting an eyelid. Then they get annoyed when I dare show disapproval!! WTF?!?

I've noticed that as well. Even people I know that would never steal a candy bar from a grocery store have no problems downloading hundreds of dollars worth of intellectual property. Apparently if it's not a physical item, it doesn't count. At the very least, I love the answers they come up with to justify their petty theft.

i just wish, Sony would have more colors come out!
IMHO, they would sell more PSP's to the female audiance if they had more colors..hell, more guys would by them too.
i can't tell you how many of my friends are buying the Madden bundle just because it's Blue!

Dr Haisook : or maybe if there would be no piracy some of them would be forced to buy those games . The sad thing is that even people whom otherwise would buy the games dont do it because pirating on the PSP is o easy .
Also , if there would be no piracy maybe more games would exist and then more PSP owners ... you see this can go in more ways than one ...

I think Dr Haisook is mainly right, apart from the fact that they would NEVER buy games any way. They would buy games, just definitely not that many.
Alien is wrong that the psp is one of the easiest console/gaming device to hack. From my point of veiw, a normal, casual, non pirating gamer, Psp's are harder too hack than other consoles. But it is hacked because of what you get out of it, it's got more potential.

My my, lot of software thieves out tonight. Sorry, did we offend you? You just get back to stealing stuff and we'll pretend nothing's wrong.
Sorry, won't do it again. How improper of us. We should be more tolerate and considerate of your rights and feelings.

I decided to reply to everyone in one long post.
Custom firmware was made primarily for homebrew, and second of all for enhancing the firmware, it was never intended for piracy (and yes I have read interviews with Dark AleX backing this).
Installing custom firmware is a horribly complicated process that can depending on the situation royally screw your PSP if you do it wrong and it ranges from hard to near impossible these days depending on how high your firmware is. Most easily pirated system? How about the most difficult? That seems more likely.
In case you haven't noticed, the homebrew scene are a bunch of devs who want to develop for the psp without selling their firstborns and their left nuts to sony in order to do so. Some of these developers move on to develop commercial games as you have seen with the upcoming game "no gravity". Look up homebrew in a dictionary or something, nowhere would it say piracy. DS Homebrew uses R4's which are also used by many for piracy, so is DS homebrew piracy? No.
I find your arguments to be based on your own assumptions and inaccurate figures. Piracy is bad on the PSP, but it isn't the reason why psp sales are doing so poorly. pixelator and myself as well as others have all tried to explain the issue and lay out the facts but you all label us as the bad guys because we don't go along with your silly piracy story.
Sony of America and Europe killed the PSP, pure and simple. They damn near ignored their handheld and decided to move all their attention to the PS3. No marketing, no respect for customers, shitty PC Store, ignorance of any country outside of the US, taking long periods to get anything done, hardly any Japanese titles, oh and shitty ps2 ports that we seemed to get yet Japan was spared from. Yet Japan on the other hand had great games, great marketing, a great PC Store, do you see the f**king difference? Do you? DO YOU?! Well I doubt any of you will bother to read this comment anyway.
Oh. And to all of the pirates here, fuck off and buy your games. No-one here cares if you live or die as you are kicking the psp while it is down. Justify yourselves all you want but you know what you are doing is wrong. The "I wouldn't have bought the game anyway" argument along with the rest are just studid crap you use to justify piracy to yourself, and no-one buys it. Actually.. On that note, can someone f**king ban Rick Astley.
And last of all, used games mean that each used game sale is money not going to the devs. Not that I am saying that it is the reason for low game sales, I was just pointing this out to Wreckard. And Jay, thanks for your ignorance, next time THINK before you post. You can't just "download 'hacking software'" for the psp phat either, it is a complicated process as I stated above. The amount of idiots out there who try to update their psp directly from official firmware to custom firmware and wonder what went wrong is horribly pathetic. I remember someone who was sold a custom firmware psp and tried to use an official update on it, rofl.
The whole 'it's the pirates' thing really is getting old, and I am tired of it. It is obvious that if a console has piracy and it is doing badly people will blame it on piracy no matter what the real reason is. Take the dreamcast for example, people still fight over whether or not piracy killed the dreamcast even to this very day.
Cave Story on-the-go was the main reason I chose custom firmware. If you haven't played it yet then you should, there is a pc version, one of the best freeware titles EVER made.
