Launching tonight?! Now that's awesome. Way to go Sony. Prices are high (6 bucks for a rental? When I can rent from Blockbuster for 4.50?).... but I'll give it a try.
Anyone know how this compares to the 360's service?

I wouldn't compare it. Netflix has over 10k movies available for stream and you can watch those movies together over the interwebs with 7-8 other friends over the "community channel."
But I do like the fact you can download the movies and bring them on the go for long flights and trips.

Well, since we're comparing anyways, the Netflix stream is in sub-DVD quality whereas, for $6, it's in full HD.
At $2.99 for the same movie, it's in SD.

Now if they'd just add support for the PSP to be able to do this on it's own, wirelessly, without a PS3 or PC, I'd be happy.

Any word on when or if these movies will be downloadable directly from the PSN store onto the PSP?

I'm sure it will come when they figure a way so that hackers can't go nuts ripping video's from the PSP and putting them on bittorrent.

Finally :D Great news for Sony , and the fact that there is PSP support , IMO counters the Netflix announcement of MS :D

Im not blind , I juts know that Netflix is not all about greatness . Common , outside the US its not even a big deal , while Sonys service will be definatly bigger both in Europe and Japan . So Im not blind , I just think that it was a great counter-attack from Sonys part ...

Netflix really goofed up by getting into bed with Microsoft and I doubt they'll wake up in time to fix things. They lost a long time subscriber as I no longer see a need between this and iTunes. My dog will miss the mailman though.

I'm done with netflix too. I'll save my 20 bucks a month and rent off of the PS3.
The more PS3 users use the video service, the more content we will get.

thank god, I don't know about the prices, seem a LITTLE high up there but that's ok its still low enough for me to want to try out at least once, and I hope the "t.v." shows has good support too because if there are good things like FAMILY GUY or some top quality programs that would be great, and you know what would be better as a huge football fan think of the possibilites of being able to watch games on your psp on the go! how great would that be!

Very cool. I'm looking forward to trying out the rental service. I'm not into buying UMD's, but would definitely rent movies for long trips and commutes. Any idea how the rental thing knows when your rental window is over?

I guess I'll use this for psp but I'm definitely happy that I can stream NetFlix on my 360 now. (wtf is wrong w/ you people canceling your NF because its convenient for 360 users? sheesh. Thats like saying I'm not buying FF13 because its going to the 360 as well. BTW I am getting FF13 on the 360 just to spite ps3 fanboys. Maybe the only good game for my ps3 will be kz and even that looks iffy)

wtf am i the only one that has a problem with how much memory these movies or episodes take up?? i was going through the movies and juno takes up like 1623 mb, now i have a 4 gig but still that is way to much for a movie. i can find juno in limewire for like 530 mb. and episodes like "its always sunny in philadelphia" and that takes up like 380 mb, and its only 22 minutea long! i thought that if they were gonna put movies or episodes available that they would not take up so much memory.
