In Japan, PSP is king. Or, at least is has been so for the majority of this year thus far. Ever since Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G hit stores back in late March, the PSP has dominated the Japanese hardware charts. As a result, the PSP has gone off to sell 1,964,461 units for the first six months of 2008 in Japan alone. That makes the PSP, so far, the most successful system in Japan in terms of volume sales.
Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G has gone to sell 2.3 million units in little over three months. That's quite amazing to say the least. With such successes across the Pacific, we can't help but take notice and reflect upon the current condition of PSP in North America. Where are we going? Hopefully, E3 will provide us all with some answers.

I hope they advertise 2ndG properly overseas. And by that i mean 100s of scantily clad asian girls offering free drinks and foot massages in selected Monster Hunter demo booths.

I want that Monster Hunter PSP! I'd gladly get rid of my GoW PSP for that one, MH is just soooo addicting, too bad not many players around me play it :(

As an avid Monster Hunter Freedom 2 player, I'm considering CAPCOM's early abandonment a little disheartening to say the least.
Unfortunately the DLC has ceased since last December, which is quite a few months of communal inactivity. (eight months... EIGHT MONTHS COMMON!!!)
I can see some contravention as well, in terms of the presently available downloadable content.
Trenya was shown in several press related trailers which seemed like foreshadowing to the inevitable and unavailability upon release. Which had consumers puzzled asking "Where is my cat-with-boat?!"
Well, it was all a scheme to have us believe that the content was newly generated when, sadly, truthfully, it was not.
It's my theory that 2ndG was released as an EXPANSION because it was newly generated content after the release of Freedom 2.
It was far more conventional from a buisness point to premarket this content as the billable hours was probably expedited!
I bet they actually had to dip into the budget.

Guerrilla Games did it right with Killzone Libration.
They actually SOMEHOW through software trickery, setup an online play mode. Governed by match casting and player settings like an isometric Battlefront.
Can CAPCOM do this? Hell yeah. Are they going to? Nope.
Guerrilla Games sort of kicked Killzone Liberation DLC to the curb once they did the big HUZZAH with Chapter 5/Online... but that's besides the point. (the publicized a DLC expansion to begin with as well)
It's like these people are exploiting the potential instead of actually doing something potentially potential with the potential of their mediums. Potential!
