Surprise, surprise -- a Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 has been announced in Japan. We were pleasantly surprised to see in this week's issue of Shonen Jump details on another Radiant Mythology game. Details are scarce at this point, but like the previous Tales of the World games, it is a crossover title with characters from different Tales games. The character count is reportedly over 50, more than double the less than 20 characters of the first game. Even the formerly exclusive Xbox 360 character Yuri Lowell from Tales of Vesperia is in it. Take a look at the other characters in the scan over at PSPHyper. The first Radiant Mythology title was released in the US, so we are hoping this sequel does the same. Stay tuned for more info!

Question for any original Tales Radiant Mythology fan out there.
Since I've only completed one tales game...ever. (TotA)
What are the chances I'd like Radiant Mythology?
In other words, from what I've read, the game is heavely dependent on fan service moments, does my limited exposure to the rest of the series mean its probably not a game for me?

Did you like Tales of Abyss? If you play one Tales game, you have play them all.
You do not need to play other Tales game to enjoy TotW:RM. It is an original story that cameo other Tales' characters. It is almost like an MMORPG where you get to create your own chracter and a class. The battle system is identical to TotA.

You will not like Radiant Mythology.
I get that the game needed alterations for the PSP, but the battle system used for Radiant Mythology is too stiff and clunky. It doesn't respond very well so combat gets a slow and boring downgrade here.
If they change the battle system to something more akin to the ToA system or the ToS system, I'll go for it, but what we got in Radiant Mythology 1 was not very good.

I'd be happy if they release the previous non " tales of the world" game in america. I can't remember the name right now. Heck, I'd be happy if they even release Tales of Destiny 2 around here...

Tales of Eternia? Even if it was a port of the PSX game I prefer an actual Tales game as opposed to fanservice.

No, I meant Tales of Rebirth, actually

But there was a tales of destiny 2 (the real sequel on PS2, not eternia) in japan, and from what I hear it is a different game to Tales of Rebirth.
Is anyone apart from me annoyed at how eternia was named destiny II in the US, and how the real destiny 2 was never localised. You would think the pre-psx final fantasy games created enough confusion without any help from the tales series.

Yeah, by "previous non tales of the world" game I meant Tales of Rebirth. By Tales of Destiny 2 I meant, well.... Tales of Destiny 2... the one with Stahn's son, not Tales of Eternia

I'm a very big tales fan, and i'd like to think I'm not alone when I say tales of the world was a pretty bad game, and the worst psp game i've ever bought. I own all of the tales games that have been given a US release. Tales of the world was only average and just barely tolerable to a person that is a tales fan.And yeah, I'd much rather them give us Tales of Destiny 2 or Tales of rebirth than another crappy tales of the world.

Yeah, I agree. Tales of the World was a letdown for fans of the Tales series. Not everything was wrong with the game, tho... graphics, customization and battle system were pretty fine, IMO. The thing is, we were expecting some 'real' Tales over here. Maybe if they had brought a 'real' PSP tales game before, the reception would've been warmer.
So... it's ok if they decide bringing TOW2, but give us Rebirth or Destiny 2 first.
