These PSP Phone rumors just won't go away, will they? Another one has surfaced today via UK marketing magazine,
Marketing Week. Their sources say that a phone incorporating elements from the PSP will be out in time for Christmas 2009. Interestingly, the article also intimates that "the relationship between Sony and Sony Ericsson has become 'frosty'" and that "Sony would "never give its PlayStation branding" to the Sony Ericsson joint venture." Interesting.
If this phone is in the works, despite a breakdown between Sony and Sony Ericsson, could Sony be working on it alone? GameIndustry.biz state that Sony have previously confirmed that they are not working with Sony Ericsson on any such device. We'll be keeping our ear to the ground in case any new information becomes available.

Every division of Sony is almost an independent company. That's pretty easy to figure out where I live; there's a Sony branded TV channel and all they ever air are Nintendo Wii ads. One would think they'd show some PS ads, but no.

They are 2 separate companies. I'm sure they are run independantly.
The phone look nice and I'd be interested, but Xmas 2009? WTF?

they're not separate companies, they are seperate branches of the same company, but I still it odd that they don't really like each other...

Yes, strictly speaking Sony and SE are two separate companies but the point is the quote makes it sound like SE and Ericsson are the same and Sony are just outsiders. Sony give nothing to Ericsson because Ericsson is also a different company to SE. And there's the point.
Sony-Ericsson is a UK-based joint venture held separately from BOTH parents - Ericsson is a telecommunications infrastructure provider which also owns a stake in SE, just like Sony does. Neither make phones, only SE does. Sony own 50% and Ericsson own 50%. Simple.
Perhaps Marketing Week should employ a researcher.....

Cafecito : yes its true , but there are two many similar shareholders for them to get apart , so if Sony would decide to make a PSphone , it would probably be made trough SE ;)
