This is actually a really fun PS2 game, the controls took a while to get use to though but it was good. In all it was really something else, because I remember trading in the game and then I bought it again. I've never done that with any game before so I guess there was something to it.
I really like how much stuff the game allows the player to do. When they allow me to customize license plate, upgrade weapons/movement/armor, invent the electric guitar, be in a band, be a good guy, be a jerk, fix up the apartment, and fight in robots, I'm sold on the game. It also reminded me of Megaman Legends too.

I never got to play the original, I looked into it and from the way you make it sound so good. I'll give it a shot. I'm sure i'll be pleased.

The games probably not as good as I make it sound. Some people are turned off by the difficult controls when they first play it. The controls are kinda rough, I really hope the fix them on the next game. It felt like a lot of work just to get the robot to walk because you have to use both control sticks to at the same time. So in order to walk forward you have to press both of the control sticks up at the same time. It takes some getting use to, but once you do it can be fun.
I recommend you rent it first to see if you like it, then if you do go ahead and buy it. The controls were one of the reasons I traded it in the first time, until I decided to give it another shot.
Did I mention you can also mine for treasure/fossils and change in to several outfits as well as buy outfits for you band? You can also so cook in the game. Geez they really tried to put everything in this game.
