Online retailer amazon.com is offering the PSP-exclusive prequel to Final Fantasy VII for only $26 -- that's $14 off its standard price. This limited time deal won't last long, so those that missed out on this adventure may want to jump on this deal.

Great price, to be sure. But, I've been playing this one, and I can't figure out why there's so much acclaim. Maybe it's because I'm not steeped in FF VII lore as much as some people are.

It's not just you. I never played FF before, and although I enjoyed the game, it wasn't as great as everyone makes it out to be. The only real standout is the amazing quality of the FMV sequences. I would have bought a game that consisted of nothing but those in a choose-your-own-adventure format.

But the actual gameplay and combat is very repetitive and simple. And the story is a bit wonky (not because I'm not familiar with the franchise but because the characters do strange things for no good reason).

I'm glad I got it, and I'll probably play it through again, but its not the "best thing evar!" ;-)

Nice find :) FF CC is a must buy game and this is a vary reasonable price in my opinion.
