We don't really know what Ikki Tousen: Eloquent Fist is all about other than it being a game based off an anime series. Moreover, we're wondering why it's named "Eloquent Fist" in the first place since one quick look at the official website suggests the title should be called "Eloquent Chest."
The above picture gives us an impression that the game is some sort of side-scrolling beat em' up title like Streets of Rage. We guess that gives the subtitle some context. For those with any sort of interest, the game is being developed by Marvelous and should be out in Japan come October 2. You can also view more busty images here.

So has the PSP become an all-Japan device now? Where are the news about non-Japanese games?!! There must be something out there, no?

Nope, the US market has been all but completely abandoned by Sony. We have a few local devs still making games but how long that'll last with software sales in the toilet is anybody's guess.
With no effort being made to port over the fairly diverse and Anime (and Adult) oriented titles like this, you can bet the USA PSP's days are numbered.
The incredibly weak dollar has something to do with it, but you have to wonder what Sony's thinking when the PSP is clearly their breadwinner system after the relative flop of the PS3. *shrug*

This reminds me of Sony's Clie line of PDAs. They were GREAT PDAs. But due to their high price, US sales were too low that Sony discontinued the line in the US, and preferred a Japan-only business.
Is this scenario going to be repeated soon? I hope not.

The Clie line was the best PalmOS non-phone series, hands-down. But they screwed up with their enforced lack of NR/NX CF compatibility (at first), locked-down proprietary sound hardware API and high prices to the point where the alienated their target market (high end tinkering PDA users). Even their lower end line like the SJ series was far superior to the Palm Inc counterparts, but they insisted on Memory Stick for flash storage which, at the time, was much more expensive that comparable SD or CF cards.
Sony's track record for good hardware is excellent -- but their ability to follow through with software support and customer relations is awful.

The PSP itself is hardly a failure. The hardware has been selling pretty solidly, though naturally not as well as the DS. The problem, probably, is that the people buying PSPs don't necessarily have to buy software to play games.

PSP software actually sells in Japan. Not great, but it often hits the top 10 for a week or so when a new game is released. But it doesn't sell in the West. Even big expensive projects are major flops.
Conversely, PS3 software seems to be selling okay in the US and West. Maybe not as good as the 360, but given the disparity in userbase, quite good all things considered. Not so much in Japan.

What about Europe? We are getting around the same number off games as you guys in the US do, but the pound is stronger.
I really want more anime style games, but the developers dont release them as there are not that many on tv. The ones which are on TV are limited, such as Naruto or Bleach, so the devs would assume we're not up to date, even if most of us are keepin up to date on the web.
Dont even get me started on the PS Store.....

It's so sad that all us are so desperate for a good new psp game. We're complaining about how this game - which clearly is aimed at Japanese - won't be released in English.
If this game turns out really good, it could be an import.

Guess piracy has a lot to do with the western game drought. The japanese are getting great games, because they actually buy them. Just check those silly Monster Hunter numbers...
Anyway, about the game: I second what post #1 says. Sexy schoolgirls and fighting? I'm ALL for that.

These Anime blood-fests bring out the pervert in all us. This is the kind of hard-nosed reporting I've come to expect from PSP Fanboy.

Yeah, PSP is really making a killing in Japan whereas here, I really don't hear much going on.
Bring some of these Japanese games over here and lets see what happens!
Could it really be that many gamers here use custom firmware and pirate the games? : (

293 billion huh? There are only 6.7 billion people in the world. Sony could live off of hardware sales forever with those kind of numbers.
Oh and just because you have CFW that doesn't mean you are a pirate. Only if you misuse CFW for piracy. Duh!

I seriously don't know anyone with custom firmware. The only people I can think of who would install custom firmware are hardcore gamers who buy games anyway.
Unless you have some real numbers to quote, don't tell me that Sony's reluctance to push the PSP outside Japan is because of pirating.
I'd put the lack of success more squarely on the people who pushed the horrible advertising campaigns.
