Rumor: Wipeout Pulse and Daxter moving to PS2

It shouldn't be too surprising to see
Wipeout Pulse and
Daxter move to PS2. Sony has made it something of a tradition to move its big PSP exclusives back onto Sony's aging home console. While this potential move may anger some, it's important to note that these ports usually come out over a year since the original release -- long past a game's relevance at the store shelves.
These ports are not confirmed (the only source we see is French site
Jeuxvideo.fr). But with
Wipeout HD coming out on PS3 and
Secret Agent Clank coming out on PSP, there's very little reason for fans to get up-in-arms about these potential projects.
[Thanks, Joe!]

Makes me wonder what the point in having a PSP is.

Honestly, I don't usually complain about PSP ports to PS2... simply because they've yet to port them properly, which is pretty sad considering the two interfaces are nearly the same.

Ability to play everywhere.
When I bought my PSP, I chose it over buying a PS2 mainly because of this. I spend, daily, about an hour going home-work-home, and I'd not be able to play anything if I bought a home videogame. And I'm fully satisfied with my choice. The raise of titles for PSP - even remakes - make me expand my games collection, because my prior owned console was a MD. And I'm able to play other older games too, from PSX era, that I previously could not.

Sorry, by MD I mean "Sega Genesis" (called MegaDrive on my Country)

The problem is that if a buyer can count on Sony to *consistently* port "exclusives" to the system they already own, then there's little reason to buy a PSP outside of portability.

Portability is a pretty big thing. It's like complaining about a mini-fridge being small, or ice cream that's too cold -- it's a pretty fundamental part of why the product is desirable.

1. Why can't I reply to replies?
2. I wasn't "complaining" about portability. Just mentioning that it's not the only consideration when purchasing a console.

Would you have bought a PSP if it wasn't portable? I know I wouldn't have. It may not be the only factor, but it's certainly the main attraction.

I have a PS2, a 40 pound 12v car battery, a power inverter, and a little lcd screen, and its all totally portable, so I don't need no stinkin PSP!
Why does my back hurt all the time??

Well this is indeed a sad news IMO . Daxter is arguably amongts the 5 top PSP exclusives at the moment , and taking it to the PS2 may make the PSP much less apealing to gamers . Wipeout Pulse was far from beeing a major financial success from what I hear , but still a cult game IMO ... sad , so sad :(

RAD said numerous times that Daxter and GOW would be ported.
Then again, I'm sure it's not entirely up to them.
I don't see why any PSP owner would really care if these games are ported. More people will enjoy them, why not?
