The series' incredible popularity has never translated onto this side of the Pacific. However, with sales like this in the mainland, we're certain Capcom doesn't mind. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G continues to sell well in the Japanese charts: it was only beaten by the newly released Mario Kart Wii on last week's charts.

Haha, those aren't monsters. That was Rock and Roll's Halloween phase. Anyways, the sales are stunning, and it's good to see the PSP making a (serious) dent in Japanese sales.

Damn this game to Hell!
This is the game that resulted in me walking around Tokyo for two days looking for a bloody (non-ceramic white) PSP to buy.
Nearly cost me one too!
... nearly

Sales haven't translated to this side of the Pacific. But just go look at Gamefaqs, and the Monster Hunter Portable boards are incredibly popular. Monster Hunter 2 is the second most popular board, and 2G is the third most popular board.
But hey, of course, all of those people on the latter board imported the game.
