If you're in need of extra gigs for your PSP, but looking to save a pretty penny or two, perhaps you'll want to hear about this adapter. The PhotoFast CR-3500 microSDHC to Pro Duo adapter will allow microSDs and microSDHCs (high capacity) to work with both PSP-1000 and PSP-2000 models. The adapter supports microSDHCs up to eight gigs large.
Now how is this going to save you a few bucks? Well, for the exact same amount of storage capacity, microSDHCs offer a cheaper solution to Pro Duos -- even if you factor in the price of the adapter. But hang on right there. There's no price yet on the adapter. However, a little rummaging finds the adapter listed on Amazon Japan for ¥990. That's roughly US$9.70. If that estimate holds true for North American consumers, then there's a lot of savings to be had.

you know i was looking at the sd cards on radioshack.com and i don't know if their price's reflect everyone else's but their 4 gig sd micro was $99 and i bought a 4 gig ms pro duo for only $50 from them like 3 months ago so as i see it it's cheaper right now just to stick with the original memory stick although i've never had to price the sd's before so maybe their site is wrong or some such

i think thats just Radio Shack on that one. go to newegg.com, you can get SD cards for less than the price it cost to ship them. i would still only buy brands i recognized though.

Probably won't work for PlayStation Store stuff since it won't support the MagicGate DRM.

Excellent point! This is a MAJOR drawback (to many, at least).

wow that is a great point. i seriously bet nobody else thought of that. they should update the post with a disclaimer or at lease let us know if that is the case or not.

I bought one of these ages ago, its a 4gb micro-sdhc card and msduo adapter. Works great on my psp. I have since bought an 8gb micro sdhc and that works great in it too, and has no problem with loading speed on anything, in fact it seems faster than my 2gb ms pro duos.
Now all we need is peak to sell just the adapters.

Wow, so these are smaller and cheaper than memory sticks? Why do memory sticks cost more than SD cards?
Also, how would the transfer rate/speed of these microSD cards compare to the memory stick duos? Thanks!

you know i wonder the same thing. MS seems to be significantly more expensive than SD in general when you compare similar spec offerings. maybe Sony's cost more to make or the brand name is just running it up.

It's cause Memory Stick is faster, and has MagicGate security

I don´t know the speed rates, but in a local store they have some 4GB Transcend microSDHC, at $23.99 (other brands are $39.99)
While my Sandisk Stick Pro Duo 4GB was $50
BTW, the Sony Stick is 60x at the speed rates, and the micro SDHC Transcend is 80x

I would jump on this, I've got at least 4 or 5 4gb MicroSDHC cards sitting around. At least I would have a use for them.

Here is the manufacturer website:
http://www.photofast.tw/eng/index.htm
If you check out the comments on CR5200 and 5300 at the Amazon jp site, it lists that this is not compatible with MagicGate so no PlayStation Store downloads.

Hi all.
I just got my micro TF to Pro Duo Memory Stick Adapter, that I ordered from ebay for $6 bucks. I have a SanDisk 2gig micro SD that we got from Radio Shack for $24 and 2 1gig cards I have been using in our cell phones. Well I put the 2gig m/SD in the adapter and that in the PSP and it recognized the micro fine, I formatted the card. I put sum photos on it worked fine loaded the just as fast as a Duo, then I put a 60 min mp3 music mix on it, it plays ok I noticed a buffering pause sum times, now I downloaded a crash 2 game from the Sony store ( we purchased sum time back)
the game takes 5 min to load once it dose it runs choppy and pauses. So am I right to assume the adapter is working fine it’s the data rate of the SanDisk micro SD that is to slow to play game off of right? If so is there faster micro SD cards that will work or is the data rate the same for all the micro SD’s cards?
