The title of this post should have been:
Afternoon of Savings: Disgaea for $30
Feel free to update the post with the much more awesome title.

Haha afternoon to you, perhaps. Definitely late at night for me! If I had it up in the afternoon, you're right. Your title is the awesomerest. Which is more awesome than the most awesome, on the awesome scale of awesomeness.

Well as much as I like saving money I am happy I already bought this game so more money goes to the devs.
Plus if any one has not picked up this game yet. Let me give you a heads up you will not do wrong with getting this game.
I have logged over 100 hours and I still am not close to finishing this game. So you will get your money's worth.

I'm not a fan of anime games (don't think I've ever owned a single one). A video review of it at ExpoTV (this one: http://www.expotv.com/videos/reviews/22/195/Disgaea-2/258530) makes it look similar to the gameplay concepts of Advanced Wars in terms of attacks/turns. I love the Advance Wars series and since the concepts of attacking are similar, I want to buy it. So my question is, is there a certain Disgaea I should begin with, or can I pick up anyone and I won't be confused about a storyline?

I bought and played this without ever having played another Disgaea before, and I had no problems with entry. Made perfect sense (um, well, as much sense as this game really can make...) from screen 1. It does play in a turn-based way like Advance Wars, but it's a lot deeper. It has more in common with Final Fantasy Tactics or perhaps Riviera: The Promised Land than Advance Wars, IMO.
In all, I was glad I bought it. I still haven't finished it, and I don't expect to for some time. There's a lot of gameplay here.

I think this is just a port of the first Disgaea title, so this is a good place to start.

Actually, Gamestop dropped their price on 4/8/08 to $30 (not $20), so this Amazon announcement is old news.
Killzone and Disgaea dropping $10 each in one week is good news indeed!

This is an awesome price. Too bad amazon.com won't ship games to Canada, especially given how ridiculously difficult it is to find a copy here.

It's the same price at bestbuy.com, but it's a "pre-order" that ships the 17th. I just ordered there because I had a $25 gift card.
