1UP's James Mielke had a chance to chat with
Crisis Core's director, Hajime Tabata. In the interview, he notes that the world of
Final Fantasy VII will continue to expand even further.
Crisis Core is but the most recent addition of a long series of works expanding the
FFVII universe, such as
Advent Children,
Dirge of Cerberus and
Before Crisis. Tabata notes that "the Compilation's finale will take some other form." Could the long-rumored
FFVII PS3 remake become reality?
For the complete interview, check out
1UP. Stay tuned for our review of
Crisis Core next week.

Oh PSP Fanboy, why must you tease me so, with your fake PS3 Final Fantasy cover? You do wound me greatly.
Seriously though, FF7 remake for PS3 would be ridiculously awesome. FF7 on PSN would be a huge cash cow and a huge draw for people to upgrade from the PS2. To be honest, though, I threw in my friend's FF7 PS1 disks and couldn't take the graphics. They were just so bad. Maybe I'll give it another go, though.
I think, more likely, is that there will be another sequel/prequel/alternate story that comes out in the same universe with some of the side characters.
Can't wait for Crisis Core, btw.

Turn on smoothing and it's a lot better. Certainly not good (by today's standards) but it tones down the flashy-jagies a lot.

Hopefully the finale will be a rpg sequel. To me, that just seems like the respectable way to end the FF7 story. I don't want a sequel to Dirge. If they do decide to make an rpg, it would need to have turn-based battle system. Although, they could use a real-time battle system, and have you control all the different characters individually. Imagine playing DMC, except you're controlling Clould!
I don't really care for a FF7 sequel, unless it has some serious new content. A remake is inevitable though.

I'm fighting with myself here, see, part of me is kinda fed up with all these hundreds of FFVII spin offs and remakes and remakes or remakes, and spin offs of remakes, and remakes of spin offs, whatever, you get the point, its beginning to do my head in, I sorta want FF to leave it alone, FFVII is a legend, but it only remains a legend so long as Square does not overkill it. Imagine hundreds of spin offs etc for star wars or LOTR or Matrix, in fact, look what happened to Matrix.
The other part of me can't wait for FFCC, the movie remake and any chance of a remake on PS3. But even with my excitment for lots more FFVII stuff, they really need to stop it now ¬_¬ Cloud's boring, painful and sorrowful life is beginning to drown me, let him get a gf, get married, have kids he'll call 'thundara', 'lightnine', 'raine' and 'haile' and end it at that.

I just want a PS3 FFVII Remake. Then end it. No more spin offs. Make the game exactly the same in every way except for amazing graphics for PS3 and be done with it.

There needs to be some sort of sequel, whether it be a new Vincent game, a new rpg or even a new movie. There needs to be closure in the FF7 world, and I don't believe most of the compilations titles have truly provided that feeling. In the ending of AC, Seph says something like "I will not be just a memory". In CC, we have Genesis's character developed. Finally, there's the secret ending in DoC, which pretty much shows that a sequel is required.
I agree with Saturn. I'm fearfull that more spinoffs, sequels, or sequels to spinoffs will only hurt FF7's reputation, and make the story convoluted. Which I think might be a problem it has right now. Hopefully Crisis Core will put my fears to rest.

They (squeenix) said that the worlds of FFVII, FFXIII and Ivalice Alliance would 10 years of support with more games, movies, etc so we're nowhere near the end of the spin-offs in any of the game worlds.

A Final Fantasy VII Remake would be a waste of money for Square Enix. They could take that money, an put it towards creating more new original games. (Which would be much better) Why Remake or Redo a game, that you can already play right now? What's the point? It's a stupid idea. MORE ORIGINAL GAMES PLEASE!!!
The only reason why people (FFVII fanboys/girls) want a Final Fantasy VII Remake, is because of graphics. That's the ONLY reason. All the FF graphics whores want this game to get made. But to me, that's not a give reason to Remake this game.
(I don't like Final Fantasy VII. An in IMO, when Square enter the Playstation generation with Final Fantasy. That's when the FF series went downhill. It become all about the visuals (FMVs) and what looked cool. An it hasn't changed since.)

I gotta say Crisis Core is amazing. Ive been playing it over the past 2 days and ive been hooked on the missions part of it so much that when I actually went to do the STORY part of the game I was kickin a$$ left right and centre.
The cut scenes are PS3 in quality and the animation is SPOT on.
Totally the best FFVII game since FFVII

Graphics are the only reason why people (Mostly FFVII fanboys/girls) want this game to get made. Pure eye candy and nothing more. An i just don't think that's a good enough reason.

Remakes are fine, we don't mind playing remakes of old games if they are toned up, besides, gamers don't actually realise that 90% of games on the market are in fact remakes, they have different names and plots, but they are the same as older games, Halo copies many movies and games before it, Mario has not changed much in many years, and the list goes on.
It's when a series never seems to die and stay flipping dead that winds me up, games with stories are meant to end, not continue forever with 1000s of prequels and sequels. I don't mind sports games, they are fine, sports never change.
An FF7 remake could sell lots and be a success.
1: Because FF7 fans will love to relive the updated version of the game.
2: Because those that missed FF7 and can't be bothered to go back to the horrible graphics of 1998 or when ever it was released to play the game can now see what all the fuss was about.

Your kidding right? They would already have half the resources finished! They have the Advent Children models, they have the story, settings to go off, and a whole lot of the other work already done for them! Plus it's pretty obvious this would sell millions right off the bat. So basically they would have to spend hardly anything and would make more than games they've recently put out...
