Fans who enjoyed
Wipeout Pure's free DLC are going to be very disappointed by this new. The first DLC for
Wipeout Pulse has appeared on the
UK PLAYSTATION Store ... at a cost of £3.49. The "Mirage Pack" includes a brand new team, and two new tracks (and their Zone variations).
Update: Future packs have been unearthed on the
official Wipeout website. They each include two tracks and one new team.
Pulse is a fantastic game, and we don't mind having to pay for more of it. However, is £3.49 a bit too much for you? How much will DLC cost when the game launches in America in a week?
Also available on the UK Store: Fade to Black (PS1),
Theme Hospital (PS1),
Motorhead (PS1)

Ouch... Sony have taken this DLC a little far requiring payment in my book. Still, great game though. Maybe if the was just more then 2 tracks and 1 ship?! Common!

Does the UK PLAYSTATION Store require that you use a Microsoft Operating System as well? If so, double bad.

Considering I paid only £25 for this game in the first place, £3.50 is damn steep for so little :(

£3.49 for a team and two tracks? That's a bit much, don't you think? I'll still get the game when it comes to the USA; Pure was too great to pass up the next offering.

Charging for this does seem a bit against the grain for what most of us usually expect, but haven't there been other cases of DLC for games lately that start out with a charge, and then go free a couple months later? Even if not, and I'm only remembering a rumor, I wouldn't be surprised, or put out. If you want something new and shiny in the tech world, you generally have to pay a premium for it. The only part of this I'd have a particular issue with is if the price doesn't drop a few months after the game comes out.

Booo is right. WTH is this crap? It better be free soon. They never charged us before. Be different if it were only like .99 then maybe I'd consider.
I just don't feel right about this.

So it's official: The "magic word" for this console generation is "Microtransaction". Sony would be stupid not to cash in.
What makes me spit bile all over them is how bone-headed the support staff is. I ask how to access the DLC for Wipeout Pure through my PSP (which doesn't work AT ALL), and get - repeatedly - the answer that I should buy the game off the store. Why? I have it already.

Jesus, what's with all the whining?
Just because you got something for free in the past (at cost to them) means it's wrong of them to charge for it now? If you don't think it's worth the money, it's simple - don't buy it.
I think you'll find that the game disc itself was cheaper than Pure, so if anything, you didn't get the downloadable content back then for "free" at all. Not to mention that the US version of Pure missed out on the cool artist-designed tracks of the UK version, which in turn had several of the "free" tracks utterly ruined by excessive in-game advertising.
Would you honestly prefer either no downloadable content or downloadable content with obnoxious in-game advertising? If these tracks are ever made free in the future, that might be their best bet. Tracks don't design themselves, you know.

despite the poor effort, there is good news, kinda, the www(dot)wipeoutpulse(dot)com has info on the new pack AND the next 3 packs up and coming, looks good!
..shame about the extreme price, this content should be free, we shouldn't have to pay for the lack of sales/revenue, its not our fault, WE'RE the ones who bought the game, more inscentive would mean more sales, more revenue, why didn't they mak them free??? especially when the game was as expensive as it was..

The ships in these packs are advertised as being part of the game I already paid for. I'm returning this under the Sale of Goods act.
