Looks like GameStop's "exclusive" demo of Patapon isn't so exclusive. European gamers will be able to enjoy a small taste of Patapon before its release by visiting the PC-based PLAYSTATION Store on February 21st. The demo will also include the bonus weapon that GameStop proudly touts.
Too bad America's PS Store probably won't receive the same treatment. Who doesn't want the instant gratification of downloading a demo directly to their Memory Stick?
errors??
if you know what youre doing none of those errors should stop you.. even on OFW.. i find ways to play asian store games (devil dice demo) then go back to my local demos..
oh, hey confused! ha ha, is there any chance that you could put this on the directory? i really really want the demo. and i have a stupid mac, so i can't use the store.
This actually pisses me off. I was planning on pre-ordering it for the demo and playing it to death, but now I'm not so cool with the idea. Europe gets free dibs on the demo, while the US is forced to pre-order? That doesn't make much sense at all.
Don't complain about what EU gamers are getting. You get most games earlier and much cheaper. We are still waiting for Pain, Everyday Shooter, High Velocity Bowling.
Patapon is costing me the equivalent of $50 - yes FIFTY DOLLARS - so I think I deserve a downloadable demo when I'm paying two and a half times what you are for exactly the same thing.
And I paid the equivalent of $700 for my PS3 in November and $270 for my PSP last week. Still think you get the rough end of the Sony deal?
That's not what I meant Jay. I know many Europeans are given the shaft, especially with games. But that's mostly because of your government's policies and that's something game companies can't control. Same with the prices.
Game companies do, however, control whether a demo is released for free or not and to not give America a demo is unfair. I do sympathize with you, and I'm not complaining about a demo as I was planning on pre-ordering anyways. I just think if the company can control what or when something is released they should release it to EVERYONE. That way, we can avoid this little rant I've made.
Also, Jay, do you think it's justified that people in the US are forced to pre-order the game just to get the demo? There is no other way of getting it, and it is an annoying process to go through for the consumer.
They are releasing a demo in EU for anyone to download at no charge, but in the US they require you to pre-order.
Stop complaining. Almost 7/10 demos come to the usa first, then europe. Then perhaps 1/10 comes to europe first. I sort of agree with you though. I don't see a good reason not to be given the same content simultaneously. Especially in countries like where I live (norway), where there is no translations being done anyway.
And don't get me started on prices. Yes the goverment policies has something to do with it, but if one do the math, it only makes a relativly small difference. We have a 25% VAT and around 1% environmental tax. I bought my PS3 in June for 1100USD. Does that sound like a 26% difference from 600USD (which was the US price at the time)? So please let us atleast keep a demo or two coming to europe first without complaining.

I am not complaining about the demo, I'm just complaining about what you said in the above quote.
The PSN should release simultaneously, or they shouldn't require a pre-order for a demo that's being released as a free download elsewhere.
I agree! I don't mind so much that its available elsewhere but not to us in the US, but WHY make PSP owners jump through these kinds of hoops? Why not make it available to everyone?
There's no word on the EU demo's end-save for the exclusive weapon (if there will be one in this version at all) working with US domestic versions of the final game, so stay the course.
Well it most likely would work the same way because:
1) Developers don't want to waste money making two different kinds of the same demo.
2) The saving system is the same for any game/demo developed and can be implemented any way the developer wants. Therefore, it's very likely the EU demo is the same as the US pre-order demo.

This would be great. I'd download the EU version but I'm afraid I might get those errors by activating my PSP with another account...

I wouldn't take a chance on it. I tried doing it for the Wipeout demo and when I tried switching back to the US Store, I got those errors.
Don't take the chance.

Thanks for telling me. Too bad you got the errors. Luckily I didn't do it for Wipeout Pulse either.

I'm with you. It's almost like they take U.S. sales for granted.
