NOTE: Image is just a mock-up. This is not the real PSP keyboard. [Image source]
Do you hate the virtual keyboard the PSP has? Well, looks like a solution is coming. An official first-party keyboard attachment is in the works. The problem? It won't be due until next year, according to GameSpot. "We're looking at several designs, but can't tell you anything more specific," a rep said.
[Thanks, Joe!]

The top heavy weight of the psp while holding the keyboard will probably make it uncomfortable.

That's true, but like it said, it's only a mockup. I do like how it looks like it would double as a screen protector.

Great! But NEXT year? *checks calendar* --sigh. Well, at least it's happening. With the lighter weight of the PSP-2000, I doubt balance will be an issue.
I figured Sony might come back to this when/if the Mylo fell off the radar... And here we are. Clamshell keyboard that unfolds *and* protects the display FTW!

If Sony were to make a AIM or MSN Messenger service in a future firmware update I could see the keyboard coming in use - until that day, I'll stick with my trusty built-in PSP keyboard.

You don't have to be chatting to need a keyboard. Just going from site to site is a royal pain in the ass on the PSP. The 'virtual keyboard' is an unholy bastard. I'd buy it just for typing in URLs.

I think I'll skip on the keyboard thanks.
How about a mini adjustable stand with a wireless keyboard? That'd be a bit better to use than a keyboard dropping off the bottom of the system.

What are you, challenged? This is something people have been begging for for the past 3 YEARS. A keyboard completes the PSP internet/online functionality suite extremely well. How do YOU know how bulky it is?
If you don't want it, don't buy it. Having the OPTION is a GOOD thing, not a BAD thing. You don't have to buy ALL the 'bulky' accessories, ya lummox.
...Goddamned DS trolls.

I think I'll wait till the real PSP2 comes out. Happy with the Phatty. If these new features and apps won't work on my Phatty then what's to stop Sony from releasing the PsP Super-Slim and ignoring PSP Slim owners?

I've wanted to a see keyboard and MSN messenger on the PSP from day one, so this a good start, but the mock looks like it would be really hard to type on since it would be very top heavy.

ive gotten used to and pretty efficient with the phone entry one they have now. too little, too late IMHO. would only be useful if they had memo and calender programs on the PSP as well (but then again, my PDA does that just fine)

It's called a PROTOTYPE.That probably is NOT the keyboard, seeing as it's nearly ergonomically impossible to use.
