Abbreviated PSP, Sega's upcoming PSP port of Phantasy Star Universe is set to enthrall the audiences that snagged a PSP to play Monster Hunter. Just like Capcom's RPG, PSP will allow collaborative RPG play with other players ... provided you're all in the same room. At least the style and graphical flair of the Phantasy Star world have come through successfully in these first screenshots of the game.

I'm sure it will be fun, but the lack of infrastructure seems like a completely brain-dead decision ... I just don't get how games like this, Call of Duty 4 for DS and others can be released without online MP that would completely *make* the experience!

Japan is different. Local multiplayer is very popular, so online isn't a must.

I agree ... but this isn't Japan. Perhaps they should take note of the fact that although the Monster Hunter games sell well in Japan they really don't here ... and how multiplayer games do very well here.

Even if there isn't multiplayer, I will still have so much fun with this game! I was actually playing Phantasy Star Online for GC a couple weeks ago and thought "Hey, they should make a Phantasy Star for PSP!"
...wish granted.

Personally, I find it hilarious that the PSP is pushing out graphics that the devs thought were adequate on the Xbox360 version of this game. Also, the lack of infrastructure means I won't be buying this. Oh well.

I really dont care for the lack of infrastructure ... I mostly play more than 90% of my PSP games in singleplayer ... still IMO , graphically it looks crysper than the PS2 version :D

I find it freakishly disappointing that they aren't utilizing infrastructure more. It's like someone just set them up to spike the ball (infrastructure) and they chose to just bump the damn thing over the net. When are they going to pull their head out of the sand and see that multiplayer is the way to go? I dont have anything against single player, only that when you go through it, you're done, you've seen it all. Multiplayer adds so much more to games but they choose to ignore it on games where infrastructure should be a no-brainer. Too many games have come out lately that would be AMAZING for infrastructure, but they choose to be lazy and leave it out.. So now my PSP gets pawned and i get a 360, a system which actually recognizes the growing market of multi play. Maybe in a few years when 4 more infrastructure games are out, i'll pick up another PSP, but it's doubtful. Neat system, but the devs need to utilize its strong points instead of catering to the people who have groups of buddies that all have PSPs and the same game interests. Maybe common in japan, but if you're out of middle school you won't be seeing this too much in the states.

I still have my Dreamcast disc. I must say I never did finish that game. I'll have to go back one day and play thru it again so I can get ready for this one.

wow those graphics are great..lmao that the same graphics are on a psp, ps2 and 360 game.
the fact this game lacks online means i won't buy it. period. it's not that i need online in my games, but i need online in my ONLINE games. This is designed to be an online game, and the interaction makes most of the fun. They cant weak it or whatever they like, but in the end, it'll still feel empty.
I bought Monster Hunter Freedom 2 and there is fun to be had, but looking back I rather I never bought it and I'm not making the same mistake twice.

looks lackluster graphically speaking no infrastructure?
I guess the devs (here at least) taylor to the crowd in Japan.
I was wondering how much in sales does Japan do vs the USA?

obviously the screenshots don't look as good when compared to seeing the game in motion. so reserve judgment until we see some videos.
