If you're not quite ready to make the jump to the PSP-2000 or just need a spare system for some "extra curricular" activities, you should know Gamestop is selling used original PSPs for only $100.
This deal doesn't work online, so you'll have to get off the couch and actually go down to the store. You better hurry, though, because this deal expires Sept. 27.

Yeah, begging. Right.
Of course, Gamestop gets 100% of the money thrown at them for used items, so it's no biggie for them.

NoBullet,
Not that I agree with LoyalistRevolt, but a new PSP 'phat' is 170 and a new DSL is 130, so it's not really the same situation.

I would suggest that anyone considering this deal actually NOT do it. I bought a refurbished system from Gamestop and I found out within a week of playing it (after comparing it to a friend's) that the buttons were broken. I exchanged it for a used one whose analog stick, again after comparing it to a friend's new model, was sticking. I spent 3 months trying to exchange it and every time I went to GS, they kept telling me they had no used PSPs in stock.
So basically now I'm stuck with a semi-usable PSP that I'll definitely be replacing with a 2000 ASAP. PSP systems, it seems, are not the best things to buy used, especially since you can't easily replace the components (like comparably to buying a new controller for a console).

they are making $40 off selling the used versions for the most part since they only pay $60 to take in one in great condition

you probably didn't try hard enough. iv had plenty of refurbished items without problems. in fact a refurbish should be better then a used since they get tested and rebuilt.

Bought my first PSP this past weekend. Learn from my mistake: Check the Wifi before you leave the store. I didn't realize that some PSPs are basically bricked because the Wifi doesn't work at all. I didn't want to do the return/exchange shuffle, so I just coughed up the extra cash for the PSP Slim bundle.
Guy asking about firmware: Gamestop doesn't do anything about the firmware. The one I had for a day had outdated firmware, which I thought might have been causing the problem I had with the Wifi. Whether you can get lucky with a 1.5 is anybody's guess.
Off topic: Since I've never even held a PSP before this weekend, the fatty-to-slim transition for me was like night and day. I thought the slim was a toy! :)

I've been on the fence about picking up one of the new PSPs, but when I saw this in my inbox, I couldn't resist. I did have to do the run around though; the first PSP I got was scratch free and flawless, but someone had tried to hack it and it was bricked-didn't go online, no UMD play. So I took it back and actually got a better deal. First the guy brought out a crappy scratched up one and I asked for something better since the original one I got was so nice. He then goes to the back and brings out an Entertainment edition with the case and earbuds with remote! Upgrade!
This one works great and is in even better condition, near mint. Whoever had it obviously never played it.
I am (so far) quite happy with my impulse buy and am eagerly awaiting FF Tactics.
