Chris Reese, Technical Director for SCEA's Bend Studio, has posted on the PlayStation.Blog to confirm that Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow will utilize the full 333MHz of PSP power. Reese claims the extra 67MHz will allow Bend Studio to create a look and feel that isn't possible using the original 266mhz. The increase in power will let them focus on adding detail and interactivity to the game's environments.
For those who are confused about 333mhz compatability, let us put your mind at rest. Games utilizing the 333 MHz clock speed will work exactly the same on a normal PSP as on a Slim PSP. The increase in power does mean that the battery in both models will drain more quickly than in other games, but for those who are picking up a PSP Slim you can use your old PSP's battery to lengthen the playtime. This does, however, come with its own problems.

I really wish older games could take advantage of this 333MHz setting.

Actually, they are coming from 233, not 266. So it's an extra 100 mhz

Extinction:
The speed for most current PSP games is 222MHz. Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters has the highest official processor speed at 266MHz. So Jem is correct about that.
Back on topic, sorta... Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror is a very 'hissy' game (the UMD spins almost all the time) it definately taxes the PSP resources more than most games, but it really shows in the games quality.

The demo looked and felt wonderful ... I wonder if it used 266 or 333?

Hissy? Is this something that was officially put out by the devs or was it just the demo that appeared that way? No matter how you slice it this game looks really good (as do many other PSP games do). I could not believe the comment I read from Andrew on how this game is finally bringing console quality games to the PSP. Man that was a slam to all PSP games that are out. ;)

I just mean that the game hisses a lot while spinning in my PSP... and this is "Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror" I'm talking about, not "Syphon Filter: Logan's Shadow".
I wasn't lucky enough to get a UMD demo, even though I signed up for it & they gave me a confirmation page...
I agree that there are ALREADY console-quality games on PSP, Ridge Racer, Wipeout Pure, Ratchet & Clank, and more... not sure why Andrew forgot that. But Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror really does showcase a high-quality gaming experience. So Logan's Shadow should be the same.
