Who would've thought blending RPG elements into a puzzle game would become so successful? Puzzle Quest's incredible fan following has earned its spiritual successor, Galactrix, a great deal of attention. In an interview with IGN, Lead Designer Steve Fawkner reveals that the team is trying their best to make this game feel unique: "the last thing we want to hear from gamers is "oh that's just a Puzzle Quest clone" (which we admit to doing).
When questioned on its gameplay mechanics, Fawkner stated the game was not based on Bejeweled, but another popular puzzle game: "I would say that it would better be described as Collapse in space." A crucial difference between the two titles is that Galactrix features real-time puzzle battling.
As revealed in the interview, there are plans to introduce downloadable content and 6 player multiplayer. It will be interesting to see how this game develops over time.

Alien: Galactrix was in development alongside Puzzle Quest, they didn't just wake up after it shipped and went O HAYZ WOW!
Also, it's not Bejeweled again.

This is not Puzzle Quest's sequel right? Or is it?
Because the visual is not as impressive as Puzzle Quest's.. :(
And I'd love to see Puzzle Quest II, meaning the same Puzzle Quest gameplay, but enhanced with tweaks, refine here and there, balancing and the same impressive visuals.
..and mentat, please stop saying the game cheats or not everywhere... seriously, if you're any good at Puzzle Quest, you will not say the game cheats. Anyone good at Puzzle Quest will never say the game cheats.
Only beginners and people who are not very good at the game says the game cheats. But then, most of beginners eventually understands the game and don't say the game cheats anymore...

Saying the game cheats is typical of newbies - I've seen people say this against backgammon AI. It's a funny thing with games composed of luck and skill, but where skill slightly prevails. A more skilled backgammon player will always seem more lucky. But you can roll the dice for them and they'll still kick your ass.
Puzzle Quest is the exact same thing. Someone better than you is going to beat you down over time.

Keep the dungeons and dragons, and give me a space-age setting, any day. I don't care if this is a clone of Puzzle Quest's mechanics, and I pity the fools that pick away that this factor.
