While some critics have panned the Legend of Heroes franchise, I know many PSP owners love Falcom's RPG series (including my fiancee). Fans of the series should be pleased then to know that the next installment is going to be a huge affair. How huge? Two UMDs huge. You read that right. The next Legend of Heroes will be the first non-golf game to span multiple UMDs. Not a whole lot else is known, other than it seems like the game will feature some 3D elements, will have new characters, and will hit Japan in September. So who among our readers is a Legend of Heroes fan? Do you think this is just the start of multi-UMD releases?

(GASP) 2 UMD DISKS!!! Uhoh...
Seeing what Sony's policy has been lately regarding optical media for its game systems, I wouldn't be surprised if Sony released a higher-capacity disc for the new PSP (redesigned or totally new) unless more layers could be added to UMD and still be readable with current PSPs.

This game actually looks like a big step up from the original three Legend of Heroes.

I am already twitching over the multiple disc comment. Wake up and smell the coffee. This isn't a bad thing, because for once, we can get a long, twisted, epic game, FFS!
The PSP is supposed to provide a sixth-gen console-level experience, as well! So for one moment, if people could get their heads out of the purely handheld sand, perhaps they'll see the possible good that can come out of a game that goes beyond the standard UMD size.
Damn! It's only 1.8 GB as dual layer - do you want your console's potential to remain constricted? Do you? I mean, technically 1 UMD could barely fit the original final fantasy 7 (that too with heavy compression). I'm actually looking forward to some titles that take such massive leaps.
Of course, I know the drones are going to whine about this, so damn the lot of them!

why dont they port the real oblivion to the psp with just worse graphics and make it multiple umds/ There are way too many psp dungeon crawlers already, I mean even valhalla nights is a dungeon crawler and so is the coming up tales of the world, we dont need oblivion on psp to be one.

I cant wait, Legend of Heroes is my favorite series for the PSP, though Tear of Vermillion was my favorite, I hope this one is as lenghty and exciting.

Guys guys, don't CONFUSE the Namco Bandai Legend of Heroes titles with this one. The 3 Namco Bandai releases are mediocre remakes of the old titles, and this one is made by the original developer Nihon Falcom and is a port of one of the recent PC LoHs.

I've been avoiding this franchise ever since I heard the name. But this one is looking pretty sweet. The multiple UMD thing doesn't bug me. It isn't like you're switching them out a couple times a day. You only do it once.

I'm a little dissappointed in what they're turning Oblivion into. But I think it'd be hard to put a game like oblivion on multiple discs. There's too much random traveling and no real start and end point of the game. Maybe they could do Morrowind. I'm not sure how much space that game takes up.
