psp-frog describes how he bricked his system, and called Customer Support. Although the warranty was over, the forum poster was able to get his system fixed for free! How, you ask? He told the representative that he was buying a PS3 and couldn't afford to fix his PSP. The representative then did something surprisingly "nice." He let the user get his system fixed for free!
While this is most likely not common practice, it's interesting to hear the story of a Sony representative bending the rules. Maybe they'll do anything to get those PS3s off the shelves?

This info should be sent to Joystiq.com so that they can spin it into yout another bogus story about how SONY is 'in trouble.' You know - as in 'they are willing to throw a free PSP at anybody who simply says they intend to buy a PS3!' They SURELY are about to go bunkurpt now.

To the poster above. Dont blame Joystiq or Kotaku or any other site. Blame Sony.
Uhm, Sony is in trouble. And its not just Joystiq saying this. Open your eyes and look on any gaming website. Better yet dont read anything in the news or watch tv. Go to a flipping store and admire the enormous price tag and lack of quality games of any sort. And admire the most obvious sign its going well, consoles sitting on shelves that no one wants. Examine how big publishers are losing money on developing for PS3 because no one is buying games for the PS3 because next to no one owns one or wants to own one.
Sony couldnt be in any more trouble if they tried. Heck the news bytes from Sony are like a how to shoot one self in the foot.
Dont blame joystiq for reporting the news. Its Sony that is making the news.
Sony doesnt care about gaming anymore, they care about you buying into their bluray wet dream so they can control movie distribution. The kick back from selling BluRay licensing and discs will make them more money than god.
Go and read for yourself and take the fanboy blinders off for good.

wow....now thats bad...but for real, sony needs to get those ps3 off the shelves cause their stockpiling. Some1 needs to tell the masses that ps3 can also be used a nice $600 grill, that will propably move about like 12 units. lol
the Wii on the other hand, well thats another story.
