You won't see
too much Nintendo reporting on PSP Fanboy. However, this
roundtable editorial on Nintendojo was just too good to pass up. Nintendo has stated that the Nintendo DS was a third pillar, to supplement the
Gamecube Wii and the Game Boy Advance. So, what if Nintendo actually made a single-screen follow-up to the Game Boy, to debut at next year's E3? Here's what the some of the editors at Nintendojo wanted from the hypothetical next Game Boy:
- "The next handheld would be as powerful as the GameCube."
- "Add some basic multimedia features in the mix."
- "Optical discs (moreover discs the size of GameCube discs)"
- "Downloadable retro games."
- "A single, vivid widescreen display."
- "A 1 GB memory stick that acts as a 'hard drive'"
- "An analog 'disc' or 'nub' control."
Does any of this sound familiar? There's lots of other suggestions brought up by the Nintendojo crew, but I think it's pretty obvious that many of them would
love the PSP.

Memory Stick? Why not SD Cards? That's what the Wii's using too, isn't it?
Wonder what kind of response this will get out of pixelator.

I'd love to see a PSP with a touchscreen now that I know the range of innovative games which can utilise it. Although I definately hope that Nintendo stays far away from optical discs for handhelds. Battery life suffers and long load times abound. I own both the DS Lite and PSP, and the DS Lite's battery life is to be envied by the PSP.

TBH i have both the DS lite and PSP and i think the DS is far better i haven't used my PSP in ages nintendo is just far better at producing fun interesting innovative things to play. I used to be a sony fanboy with the original PS1 but then i got an N64 as well it really opened my eyes and if i had the choice of either keeping my DS lite or my PSP i would keep the DS lite any day oh and using your logic i could say that sony stole the ideas for the analog control from the neo geo pocket or the gamepark GP32 and i could say they stole the idea for a widescreen from the bandai wonderswan

Yeah it sounds like they would love the PSP, if it had good games for it like the DS does.
A PSP like system with fun (aka Nintendo) games would be amazing.

Actually they stated the game boy wasnt going to have a new system due to the DS being so popular. SO really no point in thinking up what the next game boy could have. DS on the other hand.......

Those "specs" are only a few of the ideas presented by a wide range of people, ergo, I doubt they'd want all of them to merge together like what PSP FB presented.

I doubt Nintendo would use a disc format for its handheld. It kills battery life, and creates ridiculous load-times. Nintendo knows how to make a handheld system.
Quick, Easy, Fun to play, generous battery life.

I think I would rather have the Nintendo one than my current PSP for many reasons. I'm sure it would play GC games (HUUUGE bonus!) The graphics would be better. The game themselves would be better, I mena damn, it's Nintendo!
The price, guaranteed to be cheaper than all this Sony stuff lately.

My DS Lite with its screen on full actually has shorter battery life than my PSP with the Sony mildly extended-cap 2200mAh battery. Maybe 5-6 hours, tops.

Get to know your bloody punctuation keys, mainly the PERIOD.
"using your logic i could say that sony stole the ideas for the analog control from the neo geo pocket or the gamepark GP32 and i could say they stole the idea for a widescreen from the bandai wonderswan"
Sony didn't steal the idea of an analog control from Neo*Geo or Gamepark, because those devices don't HAVE analog input. The 'idea for a widescreen' isn't exactly exclusive to the Wonderswan, either, nor is the WS screen all that 'wide' to begin with.
