I like building stuff, so I'm excited about it. Unfortunately, more excited about the models than the game... Oh and filing off excess plastic is pretty standard.

Because they would have had to hire someone to cut off the excess plastic, thus increasing the cost. And thus making the freebie too expensive too include.

Well, they include that disclaimer so you don't ruin your model as a whole. These are mass produced and while most would fit well, some mistakes can occur. You should practice with Gundam models first :D To build a Gundam, you have to snap out each piece and carefully shave off any plastic that didn't come off from the frame.
