Atlus is bringing over R-Type Command over to the States, and IGN has some direct-feed footage of the game in action. As is well known around these parts, Command ditches the usual shoot-everything-that-moves formula that the franchise is known for with a much more tactical approach. Watch, and tell us if you're still intrigued, or if you're trigger finger is begging for a more traditional shooter.

Ok, this has nothing to do with this article, but has anyone else noticed that you can no longer charge your PSP when the PS3 is turned off since installing 2.20. That really sucks. Why would they take that away? Oh well, I guess I have something to use my Wii for now.

I am going to give this game a try because I am a big fan of Atlus. Plus I do wish there was more shoot em ups on the PSP though. But I get to play many of those games on the PS3. So I am good.

I liked the R-Type Command demo a lot. Seemed a lot like the old pen-n-paper tactics games, like FASA Starship Combat Simulator and Star Fleet Battles.
Joe, you know R-Type Command is a turn based strategy game, right?

Yeah I know it is Turn base. My comment kind of hinted to that. When I said I am going to try this. This being a different game then the rest and when I talked about the PS3 I was meaning I would get my Shoot em up fix on that system.

Yeah you would be right. Sony is remaking the PS Store and the new store goes live on April 15th. So Come the 15 there should be a lot more content.

I personally don't like this new R-Type game (before you flame, yes I've played the demo). I prefer the classic sidescrolling shmup from the good old days.
