Unlike the rest of the modern world, gamers in North America won't be getting official S-video cables for their PSP 2000s as Sony decided to only support composite and component cables in our region, according to a story published by Game Informer.A Sony spokesperson said the company wants to streamline its selection by offering the two most commonly used video standards. While some gamers might be a bit bummed by this announcement, we don't think it's that big a deal since getting the most out of the PSP 2000's video output will require component cables in the first place.
However, if you really want to stick it to the man, there's always the option of importing, right?

Not a real problem IMO ... I bet most people will buy component anyways :)

Yeah, anybody who cares enough about video quality to want s-video should either have component or be in the process of saving up for component.
*sigh* (My big TV maxes out at s-video).
But I suspect a big part of these cables is being able to hook them up to your friend's TV, which means you'll probably wind up needing the composite cables too.

We only have 'standard' TV's so component was the option ... but no games was a real disappointment.

well thats sony for ya. they do everything halfass for the usa and the psp. if they wanted to do things right then they should give us in the us,eu and the rest of the world all the things for the psp that they have given to japan. i think sonys sales practices are not very smart.

I'll survive without S-Video, but what about a longer component chord. I don't sit under my TV. I'd like something 12-15 feet minimum. Please get on that Sony. I'll be waiting right here.

Michael C. Sherrin: Get a component coupler from monoprice.com and then use your own cables to extend the connection.
And for anyone wanting S-video, just got to monoprice.com and get a Composite -> S-Video plug. Or hell, save up for a good TV...
