The PSP-2000 isn't the only Sony system to charge via USB. Not anymore, at least. The Kensington Power Tip for PSP will charge both models of the PSP through USB for about $20. It plugs directly into the system's power input and will charge the system even when it's off -- something the PSP-2000 can't do! The reviews have been fantastic. According to CNet, "for many PSP owners, it'll be a must-have."

haven't these been around since the launch of the psp ?, heck most of them have a usb cord too so you can transfer files at the same time. besides usb charging is dead slow when compared to the adapter

Over-priced when you can get an Intec (or was it Madcatz...) USB charge cable for $5 at Walmart. Plugs into USB on your computer, then splits into a charging tip AND a mini-USB connector at the other end. Now you can charge and data transfer with one cable. Been out for over a year as far as I know.

I prefer those with a split cable. Those will even allow you to charge a PSP Slim and a PSP Fat at the same time.

According to the CNET article, the USB charging time is just as fast as using the PSP AC adapter. It uses the power port instead of the usb port.

I'm not sure how to link on this comment system, but the Capdase Travel Kit has long allowed you to charge and transfer data through one split USB connection.
Here's the link again, in raw form:

Very nice accessory, but why do we have something like an adaptor at the PSP power port?

the split usb/power charge cables will also let you charge other electronics w/ a similarly-sized ac socket: mp3 players, for example. this is very old news.

Yeah, these have been around before the slim psp came out, but I really hope for a Video output add-on, just like the that GPS add-on, I think its possible.

Exactly - I have the split charger and it kicks ass. Charge and sync.
This is neither new nor much of a value, unfortunately.
