In a revealing interview with Koji Igarashi, 1UP's Sam Kennedy found out that the upcoming Dracula X Chronicles may be the first and last Castlevania game to grace the PSP platform. Why? "When I first started on this project, everyone around me strongly suggested that PSP could be the best platform for Castlevania. But unfortunately, PSP's market has been shrinking as of late, so I will have to watch the sales of the game." Considering Konami's significant support of the PSP through its Metal Gear series, we hope that they'll see sufficient reason to continue developing for our favorite handheld. The next game Igarashi will work on will be on the DS.

I think its safe to say that as long as it isn't fully 3D, Castlevania is great on any platform. This is the game I bought my PSP for, but I've found a lot to love with the portable in the months leading to release, and have fully realized the months to follow are looking great. My PSP will go on without Castlevania.
Can't wait to see the next DS game... maybe they'll finally go vertical and lose the always-on stat screen.

Low sales? How can that be? Yeah, sales should be lower than DS sales, but I thought there were plenty o PSPs out there.

If they decide not to make more CastleVanias on PSP I'll still be alright as long as more games like Jeanne D'Arc keep coming. I wonder if the DS could handle that game?

It does suck but from what I can tell PSP owners don't really buy PSP Games, a majority download and others just use the PSP for the media features or homebrew.

He could mean software sales. While the hardware sales aren't that bad the software sales blow.

Yeah, I guess you're right. The custom firmware thing and game downloads are definetely taking their toll...
Anyway. I know at least I will be getting a copy of this game. I'm nuts about Castlevania, and I definetely want the 8-bit Simon Belmont figure that comes in with the preorder.
Oh, and I'm not getting a DS. Ever. PSP Fanboy is my name.

Wow , this is interesting ... even according to VGcharts the DS Castlevanias where almost flops , selling less then half of the expected . Anyways , this is not CC neither CoO . Its just like SH , it has a smaller but utterly loyal fanbase , and I dont think that this game will push who knows how many PSPs .

Vampire games don't sell - that whole occult / undead thing apparently freaks some people out. I hadn't realized that until reading a postmortem on Vampire: Bloodlines ...

There's the reason why I would not download it on PSN. I want the new graphics and 2games!

I see tons of people on message boards bragging about their R4s and M3s and their hundreds of MB of ROMs. It's not only the PSP. Maybe if Konami had released a REAL game early on instead of that junk Metal Gear Ac!d, then more people would have bought a PSP.

I will definitely buy this game. I want to support this guy's hard work (seems like a really cool dude BTW). I won't ever own a DS either so I would really like to see his games continue on our platform.

I really don't know why the hell Castlevanias don't sell that much anymore. It's like the best 2D series there is. It owns Super Mario Bros and all those great games 100-0. I have already 5 Castlevanias. Dawn of Sorrow for the DS, SotN XBLA version and three GBA Castles. I would have to say that this games gameplay is just perfect and music is the best I have ever heard in any game. Beats even Final Fantasy in music. And it has frikkin' Dracula and vampires. Sweet.

Since there isn't even any worth in actually making a point to the chorus of nimrods, I'll 'express' simplistically.
"Games, a majority download and others just use the PSP for the media features or homebrew." - *SNEEZE*BULLSHIT!*SNEEZE*
Oh. But of course. So why are the DS sales still going? [EndSarcasm]
