This may come as a surprise, but Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core actually has a battle system. Seriously. There's gameplay other than watching emotional boys talking to each other. And that's what Jeux France has managed to capture. Unlike the tradition FFVII games, the battle system is no longer turn-based. Watch these videos to see this new real-time battle system in action, complete with Materia.

Why do developers keep making games that require camera controls on PSP? I'm sorry, but that's the weakest aspect of the system!
Titles with little to no need for camera control are the titles succeed best. I'm not saying they needed to stay turn based or anything, but I would've enjoyed a little less requirement for camera controls. Maybe something more Arena style, so the camera can stay up in the corner and mostly stationary?
Anyone from Fanboy played it, and can comment on the camera control issue? I can admit I'm just sort of assuming they give you camera control and that you need to use it to some degree... multiple enemies and the camera not staying right behind the character's shoulder are what lead me to think that.
....Otherwise, it looks pretty nice!

it does seem to have a lock on system from what i saw (not this video some other one this wont load )so dont see any in game camera problems....hope the lockon isnt anything like lair ......btw do u play with only one guy party and only one guy throughout(not that there's anythin wrong with it just asking) and whats that counter with three faces and numbers on the upper left side that keeps on changing in an early pic i thot that represented ur other party members(and their lvl)splayin with u(which ended up bein the guys u were killin not party members)

Actually Gamespots first hands on meantioned that the controls felt natural , and you control the camera with the shoulder buttons ( like in Daxter ) , so no worries there :)

Shoulder buttons, huh? That's doesn't sound perfectly ideal.... I'd still rather not have to worry about it at all. Lock on only helps once you have your target in view, which will require turning it sometimes.
I don't know, I'll give it a chance. But from a design standpoint, I wish they would've avoided it if they could've.

Well from the gameplay videos there dont seem to be any problems in blocking while facing the opposite direction kinduv problems or diving and being disorientated kind of problems that a game without lock on such as monster hunter freedom 2 could haf(i dont but some people might)...i thot shoulder buttons would be used for...changing from like attack to magic to whatevva that seems to be happenin without pausing in there...

What about the other aspects of gameplay? Visiting towns, World map roaming maybe? Hope it isn't only action-oriented...

@ kingofwale... Uh yeah it might be your computer and not the vid. Mine loaded in seconds.
@LoyallistRevolt... If this game plays like kingdom hearts that would be awsome. Speaking of the game anyone wonder why they haven't done one for the psp? That would own all.
I hope people buy this game and also support it. The way this game looks we need more games of this caliber!

nope, it works now, but i was viewing it this morning, it wouldn't load to save my life.
now onto the video, love it, this is everything I thought Vallaha Knight would be. or even what FFXII would be. I'm glad I'm importing this and will DEFINITELY buy a English copy with it comes out.
I smell a Monster Hunter killer. ;)
