A few days ago, a Silent Hill demo was leaked onto the internet. This potentially damaging loss spread like wildfire, with sites generating upwards of 1200 downloads of the demo, which only operates on PSPs with unpatched, or unofficial firmware. Karl Jeffery, CEO and founder of developer Climax, told GamesIndustry.biz that the UK developer is not responsible for the leak. "All I can say is that code did not leak from Climax – 100 per cent guaranteed," said Jeffery. "The code that is out there is fingerprinted and was supplied solely to Konami for marketing purposes."
"At Climax we have strong and proven security procedures that protect all of our code, assets and builds," he added. "We have developed over 100 titles in 20 years in business and have never had a leak or theft from inside the company." In spite of this apparent security breach, it doesn't appear as though the release will be pushed back. Thank goodness -- could we really have waited even longer for Silent Hill Origins?

1200 downloads out of 20+ million PSP out there?? OMG, piracy/home-brews are out of control!!!!
let's be real, we don't send out demo cd/dvds anymore, why do we still sending out physical UMD? especially when downloadable contents are soo easy on PSP?

How is a leaked demo a LOSS? This is a DEMO we're talking about, right? If the game is worth its salt, the demo will only create more buzz & spur on people to buy the game when it comes out.

Demo's a loss mainly because decrypted content like endings and such, are already viewable on youtube.
Heck, it's also rumored that sceners are working in unlocking areas already present in the file.
Man... I just hope the game doesn't get pushed back or something. I'm really looking forward to it.

yes it is. there are several endings that are apparently very spolerish. I've been very good in avoiding them but it's tough :)

i had to google around for the demo itself, it's a bit over 600mb. I'm just started playing it. pretty awesome so far, definitely worth checking out.
limiting the amount of people who can get a demo is absolutely stupid, I encourage everyone to get custom firmware JUST for this.
