Starting September 1st, EA will officially shut down servers for the following online-enabled PSP titles:
- FIFA Soccer 06
- FIFA World Cup 2006
- Fight Night Round 3
- Madden NFL 06
- NBA Live 06
In addition,
Need for Speed Most Wanted will go offline starting November 1st. It looks like those of you that need an online racing fix might need to consider an alternative (like
Test Drive Unlimited?). Unfortunately, it's commonplace for games to lose online support after a few years. Considering EA's love of making their franchises annual, it seems like they're really urging you to buy a new version of one of their products.

Re: MasterREAVer - that is unfortunately the standard EA practice - buy it annually or be SOL.

Are people still playing these games? It's 1 thing for EA to shut them down, screwing customers over but if noone is playing, that's an indication that you'd be wasting your time with the game.

I'm not sure why they are shutting these sites down and I question both the legality and ethics of doing so. I mean the packaging says online play...

@required - if you read the EULA in the manual (perhaps it is in-game as well) it clearly states that online support is provided guaranteed for 1 year from published release date. So when I got Madden '07 PSP last year it said that the site isn't guaranteed to work after August 1st '07 (or somewhere thereabouts)

txa1265, I understand what you are saying but in order to read this disclaimer you need to literally/fiscally buy the li(n)e that is on the outside of the packaging.
I think this is the sort of illegal thing that is often referred to as "bait and switch". Then again I'm no lawyer.
