The above video details "Dragon Skills" which are essentially attack skills gained by equipping certain orbs onto whatever character you want. Think of the orbs from the Suikoden games and you'll get the idea -- fairly open-ended with your choices, but each character has an obvious affinity for one over another. Who's excited to pick this one up? It's definitely a departure from NIS's classic-looking 2D titles.

am I the only person who thought this game just SCREAMS FFVIII? from the battle system, to the battle animation, Camera angle, to even the placement of all the health info and enemy info.
Not that it's a bad thing, FFVIII just happens to be my favourite RPG of all time. but hey, hopefully they will have a great story to boot.
Speaking of RPG, I'm enjoying my Tale of the World right now. some of the missions are down-right annoying, but the battle system is surprisingly addictive.
After 2 years, RPG has finally taking off on PSP (no surprising, took 2 years for PS2's RPGs to take off too)

The orb/crystal(the games vary with which term they use when rune is an item) analogy is only half right here. Suikoden games' magic has the same magic spells regardless of the person wearing it. In this game the orb spells change depending on who you equip them to. Take the frost orb when equip to the girl with the gun she has chilling shot, but when equip to the main character he has frost slash.
It is fairly unique with that magic system, I can't think of one the spells change based on the character(maybe Riviera?).

Ugh.. This looks completely uninspired.. Are there pauses between the casting and the actual damage? It lacks flow, and the particle effects are rather bland..
Of course, being an RPG, there is more to the story here.. Is there a story? Is it a decent one? I hate buying RPGs to be disappointed when there's no meat to it.. It's happened too many times to me already on the PSP.. I think I'm going to hold off on any new RPGs until Crisis Core is released... Although, I may pick up FFI and FFII... Those are classic :P
