Civilization Revolution not coming to PSP due to "lack of resources"
Firaxis, devlopers of the upcoming Civilization Revolution, has given a statement to Eurogamer to explain why there is going to be no PSP version. Put simply, they simply don't have a big enough team. The entire development staff is currently working on versions for the PS3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS. They have even delayed the Wii version to Autumn 2008, while the other versions are out in the Spring, because of resource shortages.
Firaxis seems to be very proud of the fact that the game is being developed in-house. The only way a PSP version would be possible would be if they "farmed it out", which they are seemingly unwilling to do. Barry Caudill, of Firaxis, made sure to defend the handheld, saying that "it's not like we're dissing the platform - I use a PSP. We put Pirates out on it." The official word, then, is that there will be no PSP version. However Caudill's wording certainly leaves room for that to change in the future.

seems you're often more interested in games not coming to the system than you are about games that are available for the system

@required: Wuh're you talking about? PSPF posted five hands-on previews today along with a couple of misc. news bits. Civilization not coming to PSP is news, whether we like it or not.
Don't rag on the Yoon, dude.

Yeah, I have to agree. While I support Required's deep knowledge of the PSP library, and appreciation of said library, I still think he needs to give Mr. Yoon. Andrew's does a great job without sounding like a partisan journalist.

You can't discount all of what "required" has stated. If you look at recent posts by Andrew both totally dissing a game (which he appears to do more often than not regarding psp games) Then he makes statements like Finally we are getting console quality games for the PSP. (see Syphon Filter comments from earlier) That's a DSFanboy statement if I ever heard one given the PSP has been around for 2.5 years and has a HELLUVALOT of great Console Quality games. I expect more out of a Moderator of a PSP Fanboy site. I don't want to rant about Andrew but he could show a little slamming and a little more supportive comments that's all.

@ pixelator & Kade Storm,
The by-line says this post is from Jem Alexander. You know, the English guy on the Fancast?
Also, yes, Andrew's had a rough past couple of days in the comments, especially over at PS3 Fanboy

@ required,
I think last week they announced that this game was in fact NOT coming to PSP. A while before that, they announced it would. They're just clarifying it here.
Also, a good while back they announced that Mushroom Men and Insecticide was coming to PSP. They even posted some trippy clips. Turns out it's only for DS and Wii/PC.

why do I have a feeling we will end up getting it in Fall of 08?
same time as the Wii version. I think they are just going to port that to PSP and even PS2. just like so many other games before it.

Trekster: Andrew hasn't been supportive of the PSP? Screw "recent posts", do you know how sad this site was before he arrived? How long have you been here exactly?

@ #6 - they said 'next gen consoles and handhelds' which we (being most of the world) interpreted as DS & PSP for handhelds and X360, Wii & PS3 for consoles. When they finally clarified, it was clear that the PSP wasn't included in that list.
It is quite unfortunate.
