A little later than normal, but here it is. Episode 5 of the PlayStation Fancast. This week we are focusing on the PSP after the lackluster amount of talk time it got last week. To drive home the point even further, we've started with the PSP section instead of the PS3 section. We love the PSP. And the PS3. Equally. Sometimes.Episode 5 features Andrew Yoon, Jem Alexander and special guest from Joystiq, Ludwig Kietzmann. We discuss the newly discovered Lumines hack, the Manhunt 2 ban and our E3 predictions, among other things. Check below for the complete program.

Its like you guys read my mind, after the last two podcasts, I was left with the feeling of "Man, these guys on paper seem to voice the virtues of the PSP and some of its games, but in reality they rarely play any of it." Kinda like how crush and PQ2 got such nice receptions and reviews on the PSP fanboy site, only to get to the podcast where NO ONE is playing them.

As stated in the Podcast
Lame American Accent?? Sounds like a slam maybe it's just me...
It would be neat if you could download the podcast in more than 1 segment so that you could listen specifically to what topic's that you want to hear.

Wouldn't the unlocking the 333Mhz lend more credence to a bigger battery, rather than a PSP redesign. I hope you remember that speed has unlocked originally, by the the homebrew community.
Jem is a SE apologist, they did not in any shape, form, or fashion put $30 of effort into either remakes.
And way to make up to the PSP crowd by producing a PSP/Wii podcast, NOT! I not going to mention the shitstorm that your assessment of Hombrew scene is going to cause, have you forgotten last time you voice those concerns. Keep in mine that the Lumines story proves that Homebrew scene will soon explode, when downgrader inevitably hits the Internet that is.
Keep on ostracizing your audience, Andrew.
I'll post my comments on the PS3 side later.

Thanks for all the feedback so far!
To Brandon: We def. play all the games that we review. The problem is, usually we're all playing different games, making it hard for us to talk about the same game. We'll try to address that in the future.
To PSP-Rising: More parts to the podcast? That sounds tricky!
To merc25: It's true that homebrew is quite popular... but it's still something that we as a site don't focus on too heavily. There's tons of great things to do with homebrew, but there's a lot of bad applications out there as well. My editorial stance for this site is to provide the best mainstream PSP news out there, which unfortunately, doesn't include homebrew. We'd love to learn more about the scene!
Once again, thanks for all the feedback, guys.

Gamespot is reporting Killzone 2 will have its presentation in Sony. their evidence is a printout invite.
Man, if that game can come out on Christmas, it will make Console war a lot more interesting.

Andrew, in my previous post I wasn't saying you should report on the homebrew scene at all. What I was suggesting is that you downplayed the homebrew scene, calling most of them criminals. "Most people that are interested in homebrew are going into it so they pirate games." Got figures to back the statement up other than vague conjectures, from at best circumstantial evidence, at worst completely unrelated. I know people that buy games and use homebrew functions to decrease load times for said games(a prime example of this is Spectral Souls, which is plague with load times for every action in the game). The point I'm trying to make here is, that just because criminals use something does not make most people who use the same thing criminals.
My other main point that I harp on, in my prior post, was that you veer off into too many irrelevant items. However, on the PS3 side I enjoyed the segments greatly.
To show you that I was not entirely hating on your PSP side, I think your conspiracy theory on Manhunt 2 holds considerable amount of weight.
In the future make Joystiq pay you by the word, before you do another five hundred word essay. ;)
All in all, I say my grievances are relatively minor, for you talked about five major topics I wanted to hear about. Don't let me discourage you, from doing these fancast or stating your opinions. On the technical side of things, I didn't notice any background noise or microphone errors.

Outstanding! Good stuff, keep it like this. And definitely keep the off-topic stuff, I can't be the only one who enjoys it. And I like the way the podcast unfolds like that - stick to the outline, but let the bullet points develope themselves. Even the whole Nintendo thing is good in small doses.
Again, you've done outstanding work here! Time flies when I'm listening to the PS Fancast and it's cool that you guys didn't stick to the whole 60-minute thing. Let it roll, baby!

Yay! Thanks for all the PSP stuff this week :). I sort of felt home. I wouldn't mind a balance every week, like you sort of did this week.

I agree with Jose. I like you guys going off-topic. Plus, I just skipped anything I wasn't interested in.
FYI, Ocarina of Time > Majora's Mask :P
