Oh, how I love thee PSP. Let me count the ways ... 60 ways, in fact. One of our readers, TCLCloud, has given us a list of 60 fantastic reasons to own a PSP system. With all of these features in mind, can anyone possibly deny the fact that the PSP is one of the greatest systems ever created? Let's begin the list:

1. The Games
People used to say that the PSP had no good games. Obviously, that's no longer the case. The library features some real gems, such as Lumines, Wipeout, Grand Theft Auto, and Tekken: Dark Resurrection. It also has some new favorites, such as Crush. Of course, if the library isn't expansive enough, a quick look down the horizon reveals a plethora of Final Fantasy titles, a new God of War, Syphon Filter, Castlevania, Silent Hill, and more.

With a PS3, we're able to download and play some great PS1 classics. The service has been slow to start, but with the advent of the PSP Store later this year, we're confident that even more great games are going to come out.

Who doesn't like playing games ... especially when they're free? The PSP has dozens of free demos, many of which are collected right here on PSP Fanboy.
4. Great homebrew games
Titles like Pollo Pollo and Hexaxis showcase some of the amazing talents of the PSP homebrew community. Upcoming titles like No Gravity show an unstoppable momentum for this underground movement.

Love a Flash game on the web? The PSP can play that as well. In fact, some developers have even created Flash games specifically for PSP's widescreen.
Wow, we're only done with the first five reasons why you should own a PSP. There are 55 more to come. Stay tuned.

I don't think there's anything wrong with listing cool stuff for a system. Its definitely not desperation.
Obviously you don't read much about PSP or you won't know about the successes its had. Obviously sales are not as great as the DS when the DS Lite shot out, but I would definitely not say that the PSP is even CLOSE to failing.

I'm amazed someone is actually going to pull 60 reasons. I couldn't really think up of 60 VALID reasons for any handheld or console system for that matter, without naming individual games.
So far, so good. The only one I don't agree with is no.4, and there's a lot of reasons involved. Not everyone wants to hack their PSPs, and not every PSP is hackable (versions 3.10+ I believe), etc., etc.
Oh well, keep up the good work. If this guy can pull it up, kudos to him.

tickmenanny whats the point of coming to pspfanboy if you only have negative remarks that really are quite biased. psp fanboy has no links to sony they are not getting payed by sony for articles or the keep up the site, so stop whining. the fact is i know you are biased towards sony most likely a 360 or nintendo fanboy, do you know how i know this???? your last post slams the ps2 and ps3 when this site is about the psp and this article doesnt even mention those consoles. so whats your point of bringing them up other than just trying to slam on sony.... dont even deny it. to say the ps2 is on its last legs is funny because it still outsells the 360 in software and hardware in japan. so does the ps3 and psp.... (not that i dont like the 360 mind u)
@ andrew: you are misinformed because the psp has more orginal titles than the ones mentioned. and if thats your only reason to slam a psp than think again because the DS/gameboy has plenty of rehases/spinoffs as well, there is nothing wrong with it.
if u dont like it then dont like, but it doesnt mean its a bad portable. lots of people dont like the yankees but that doesnt mean they're a bad team.

How is the PS2 on its last legs when its still selling better than the 360?
How is the PSP barely crawling when it has sold over 20million.

Right on with the list man.
I hate when ppl say psp has no good games. Wipeout, burnout, tekken, syphon filter, loco roce, gta, ridge racer, crush, prince of persia rival swords, killzone, mgs po, mgs acid which are all out. Not to mention the upcoming silent hill, slew of final fanastys, god of war, castlevania. Yep and the psp obviously has no good games. (sarcasm)
As for reason #2
Only if we didnt need a motherfu**** ps3 i would agree. When oh when will sony realize that they are doing themselves a diservice with this. They also need to update them more for those with a ps3

Who the hell is tickmenanny? I don't see anything posted by that user, maybe it was deleted, I wanted to read his comment to see what the fuss is all about.
Anyway, I don't own a PSP, and I probably never will own one because I have no use for one. I do, however, own a DS Lite, probably with only 2-3 game which is Mario Kart, Super Mario Bros and Tetris. The rest of the games are pretty much on a Flash Card. Let's face it, I rather shell out money for a 360 or even a PS3(in future reference, of course).
I won't say that the PSP is a useless and crappy system. The best game(puzzle) I ever played was Lumines and Lumines 2. I was addicted to that game, I even hogged my friend's PSP overnight to play it. However, I would say that regardless of all the features(for those of you who don't want to hack your PSP, or who don't like homebrew stuff), you pretty much have a larger version of an Ipod Video.
Gaming wise, the PSP is a good portable. Playing PS1 classics is alright, but I would rather have Square remake Xenogears on the PS3 with better graphics. Feature wise, I skateboard, so if i'm gonna carry a big object with me, I rather'd just get an Ipod Vid to watch movies and listen to music. 250 gigs is better then buying those low memory sticks. Plus it's easier to find Ipod ready videos online to download.

250 gigs on the IPOD Video
http://www.apple.com/ipod/specs.html
is not a standard 30Gig and 80 gigs are and as far as video the Ipod Video, it does not even come close to comparing to the PSP. A small screen limited to 65k colors whereas the PSP has a much larger screen, much higher quality screen and in 16 million colors. On top of this the resolution is 320x240?? that seems like if you watched anything for any length it would start to hurt your eyes. The PSP should not be compared to the Ipod in this manner as Video and MP3 are only a small part of what the PSP does. You sound like from your post that puzzle games are your thing, but they are only a small library in the ever growing awsome titles of every Genre for the PSP. To sum, if you only like MP3, crappy Video and basic games that are more on par with the DS lite then by all means by a Ipod Video and a DS Lite..

I can't agree with demo's - there's barely a dozen available in English! That's patheetic, Sony wants to look into that, publishers should be obliged to create a demo for any game created.

The haters are pathetic - what other system has garnered such hate and FUD amongst non-owners as the PSP? Looks like the Sony haters are having a field day - and it's all about SALES. Wow, after years of backing the XBOX, Saturn, Dreamcast, N64 or Gamecube, you'd think some of the angry anti-Sony fanboys would have a different view of what defines 'success'.
osznasdsaam: The PSP devs aren't bailing, vgcharts shows the overall 2004-2007 PSP growth rate on par or better than most other systems, retailers don't 'hate' the PSP, and since when does PSP games being ported mean anything BAD about the system?
Shipped figures don't equate to sales. They all even out after you look at the YTD sales reports and those have consistently shown that the PSP userbase is growing steadily and comfortably. Look at the graphs.
DS games aren't rehashes? Please. WTF is Super Mario Bros, Rayman DS, Super Mario 64 DS, Mario Kart, Burnout, Bomberman, Madden, Lego Star Wars, etc? HOW many Pokemon titles on the DS, again? To say nothing of the huge ratio of kiddie licensed IP garbage to actually interesting non-rehashed, non-franchise games. The DS may have fewer direct ports, but that's mainly because you can only port games from much older systems, ie. N64, GBA and SNES. DS games aren't ported Wii games because that can't be done.
Fusion cell, don't even try to compare homebrew. The PSP has been known to run Linux, OSX and XP along with a multitude of emulators, homebrew games, etc. - In order to even do homebrew on a DS you have to invest in a $40-80 flash card linker and get a Micro SD reader and card. And again, an illiterate PSP hater (aka 12yo whose parents didn't get him one) claims to 'have friends' who have had a bad experience with the PSP. Wow. What a coincidence.
Now for reality. The PSP is due for a redesign, probably with 8GB internal, not too bad. I'd prefer a 30GB internal drive or bigger, but I'll take what I can get. The DS phat sold worse than the PSP did in the first year until Nintendo released the Lite, so I suspect we'll see a freshening of sales - not that the PSP sales are in the toilet, unlike what some people are trying to say. April NPD (again, the caveat is that they don't report major retail chains or online, so remember it's a sales TREND indicator instead of a sales TOTAL):
* Nintendo DS: 471,000
* Wii: 360,000
* PlayStation 2: 194,000
* PlayStation Portable: 183,000
* Xbox 360: 174,000
* GameBoy Advance: 84,000
* PlayStation 3: 82,000
* GameCube: 13,000
...I don't see the 360 as a failure whatsoever, and yet the PSP is selling at least as well... And until one of you PSP FUDers shows me the clinical proof that higher sales of a system or game automatically equates to a better gaming experience, I'll continue to enjoy Ratchet, Daxter, Ace Combat and many other great games on PSP. I still shake my head at the high sales of Wii Play and Diddy Kong Racing DS, two decidedly mediocre games that people are eating up because they're cute and stylish and vapid. Sort of like many other Wii and DS games, IMO.
Oh, and before the Nintendo fanboys start in, I'll remind you: I don't own a PS3, only got a PS2 as late as 2004 and have historically favored Nintendo and owned the latest Ninty console first. I waited in line for a Wii (not a PS3) and have a Supercard Lite on my DS (oh, and I've had three DSes - silver US, graphite JP and white JP imports).
Stuff it, PSP hating trolls. It's a great little system and isn't going anywhere. Your FUD means nothing.

I've been thinking about getting a PSP for some time now but he potential redesigned model coming out makes me want to wait a bit longer. The DS is interesting, but the vast majority of the games for it just do not appeal to me at all.
