We tried thinking up a more original headline than this. Seriously. However, there isn't much to note in this new batch of screenshots from the upcoming
Wild Arms XF. It looks juts like every other anime-inspired SRPG out there, with some simple, but attractive 2D graphics, and a genre-standard HUD. Maybe a few of our more Japanese-inclined readers can decipher a few new details from the
newly updated website.

I know a little Japanese. :) Here's what the site says about the game system:
[RES]Response Rate - Determines order in battle.
[HEX] - Each hexagonal space has a cost and can affect your units' movements and turn order.
[DER]Direct Event Report - You can get reports on the current situtation, predicted outcomes, starting positions of both yours and the enemy units, and victory conditions before entering a battle.
Chain Bonus - If your units attack in succession a bonus is added. Same for the enemy.
Formation Arts - The more units you have surrounding an enemy, the more your attack damage is amplified. Same for the enemy.
Combination Arts - If you have multiple units taking action in a row, the first units can "lock on" to an enemy, and when the last unit attacks a special group attack called a combination art will be unleashed.

looks like a DS port. yucks
even the Joan D'Arc game looks better than this nor does it have the backing of names like Final Fantasy. This is just sad.

Aside from Dragon Quest, no rpg can come close to the "backing" of a Final Fantasy. However, I played the original Wild Arms on PS1, and enjoyed it quite much. It was better received in Japan, however, spawning 3 sequels and an anime. A buddy of mine back in school was a fanatic and used to import them as soon as they were released.
