Sony's software developers seem to include hints at upcoming features months in advance. Skype-like VoIP functionality was discovered months ago ... and that feature is only now being unveiled. By looking at some code stored in firmware 3.50, undertaxxx from MaxConsole has unearthed a small reference to "videoout." Could the PSP finally be getting a way of outputting images to a television? From the looks of this hidden icon, it appears so. It's not like Sony hasn't considered this functionality before ...

that's one feature that has held UMD movies back since day 1. Why should I pay for it at full price when I can't even output it?

remember sony official 3.40 has enabled high resolution video in umd higher than 480x272. i think they made it ready for the next big wave in 3.50 to support tv high resolution. this is great if the extra feature is tv output....i suppose via usb (another new accessory cable would be lauch by sony).

There are no cables whatsoever that could plug the PSP to a TV.
It sounds to me like some sort of complementary Remote Play feature, that would also require a PS3...

I think high res output to the PSP was enabled for Remote Play from the PS3. The videos off the PS3 look much better now than they did when the PS3 first came out and the PSP didn't have full-res output.
