San Andreas Stories? We never knew thee ... and we may never. GTA4.net has information supposedly from the Australian OPM. In their Grand Theft Auto IV preview, they reveal that work on San Andreas Stories is not happening. In fact, there's no plans to develop a PSP GTA title at all. "When asked about a San Andreas Stories for the PSP, he replies saying that they don't have any plans for that at the moment, suggesting that they likely haven't started at all on another GTA PSP title."
We're a little saddened by this revelation, if only because we'd love to see San Andreas squeezed onto the portable. It seems that crime-loving gamers will have to look towards Driver 76 to get their fix.

I dont really care . I only buy GTA games because the hype they generate ... anyways , on the other side , this is bad news ... GTA is a consoleseller , so this could have helped the PSP a lot :?

I think that Vice City took the shine off the franchise - sold only half as much, and many of those were after the quick 50% price cut. Neither one sold even half as much as the PS2 version.

Well, that is maybe because Rockstar Leeds (maker of the PSP GTAs) is working on Beaterator and co-developing the PS2- and PSP-versions of Manhunt 2.

I haven't even played VCS yet, LCS is taking sooo much time. and then I will have to play FFVII for the first time ever and then Joan D'Arc. then I will have to import Crisis Core, and then God of War, Silent Hill, Castlevia, D&D tactic (if it's any good) and FFTatics. And maybe check out SOCOM, Tales, DMC, Elder Scroll (if it hasn't gone vapour) Swat game and then get Crisis Core in English. All this within next 18 months.
and come on, how many of us are expecting San Andreas to fit on PSP? I rather not have a game than a horribly ported game that ruins an otherwise FANTASTIC series on PSP

When Rockstar announced LCS and VCS for PSP system, many fans started to wait for a San Andreas Stories, sow these news could be bad for them all. But if really SAS will be, then I think it will come out on PSP 2 after some three years. If only Rockstar wont have new plans about GTA.

Probably wouldn't fit on a UMD anyway.

It'd probably fit on a UMD just fine. People seem to assume that playtime = disc space. Seeing as GTA as pretty much no pre-rendered cinematics, and they can clearly fit the engine and maps with textures and sounds etc on the UMD already, there's no reason why San Andreas wouldn't "fit" on a UMD. I don't know where everyone got the idea that maps and levels take up a lot of space, but regardless, they typically don't. Especially on a portable system where the screen is small and relatively low-res, developers can get away with lower resolution textures, low polygon models, and low quality sound.

San Andreas Stories was always just a rumor!
However, I bet there will be a GTA4 tie-in for the PSP - maybe when the PC version is released.

I really hope this rumor turns out to be false. It seems that Rockstar would be foolish not to have another game in the works.

Can't fit on a UMD, eh? Oh noes! What will we ever do? I mean, we could believe that there was a concept known as 'multiple discs', but clearly that's a myth, and never happened.
"Can't fit on a UMD." Hahaha. Nice one.
