If Final Fantasy can reach the double digits, why can't an RPG puzzler also have sequels? In a recent interview with the creators of Puzzle Quest, IGN learned that not only were the creators surprised by how quickly the title has sold, but that they are also working on a sequel. Infinite Interactive's CEO Steve Fawkner said: "We have enjoyed creating (and playing) Puzzle Quest so much that I think we wanted to start on a sequel the day the game was released. The right thing to do, though, is to spend some time gathering ideas, discussing new features, and listening to our customers before we dive right in and start work on a sequel. But I can almost guarantee that, barring the most unfortunate Act of God, you haven't seen the last Puzzle/RPG hybrid to come out of Infinite Interactive."
If that still doesn't convince you that a sequel is in the works, Puzzle Quest's publisher D3 also chimed in about a sequel possibility: "Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords is considered one of D3's key franchises. Absolutely do not count out the possibility of an amazing sequel to this remarkable game."
So what changes would you like to see in this inevitable sequel?

More BackGround Music
------------------------------------
The BGMs are nice, I liked them, but the thing is, we need more tracks, since we're gonna play this game for a long time, we need more tracks to listen.
More Artworks and More Interactive Visual Presentation
------------------------------------
I loved the game's artworks. Its brilliant and fits the game. And it would be better if in the next game, the characters have more art than just one portrait. Maybe if there's a sad scene, the character will look sad, and so on, so it's more interactive, the character's 2d art should change depending on the situation.
Or better yet, every major quest/sidequest presented with a cutscene of the character, also done in 2d artwork.
Better Story Arc
---------------------
In PQ1, all character class share the same story. I think it would be better if in the second game, each character has their own story, but eventually, all character would reach the same goal / last boss. Example, a Knight class start the game in Bartonia and have his/her own story, while a Warrior class start the game as a lone adventurer with his/her own agenda/story, and in the end, all the class would reach the same last boss, but with different ending.
After all, its sort of an RPG game, right.
And it will raise the replayability even more.
More Class
-----------------
Maybe add 1 or 2 more class... and make the new class halfbreed or inhuman, like elves or minotaur, heheh, it would be fun to play the game as a true young firewalker, though its kinda hard to imagine a female minotaur... *shudders*
No More Frustating Mini Games
-------------------------------------------
Maybe its just me, but I find researching spells frustating, especially the hard~veryhard one.
I mean come on, I know very hard spells should not be an easy task to complete, but matching 26 scrolls is just crazy, and you need major luck, too.
Better Gameplay
------------------------
Hm... I don't know how to surpass the first gameplay but they should. I'm thinking cunning should only apply to quest mode, not apply to multiplayer. If you versus your friends, IMO it would be better if the system is "the-fastest-guy-gets-the-1st-strike". That way, the first one who match the gems gets the first turn.

Companions
----------
... should work.
Seriously, though, I understand it doesn't affect gameplay too much, but how did something like that slip through the cracks?
Good post, runemaster. I LOVED this game for the first week. I was recommending it to everyone I knew with a PSP or DS (all 3 of them... I'm an old man), but the honeymoon ended quickly. I just started playing other games , and the repetition and lack of a compelling storyline or engaging characters kept me from returning (or caring). I hope they address some of these issues in the sequel.

All that I've heard about this game has been extremely positive. After reading a few reviews and stories, I actually started playing bejeweled again on my cell phone. XD
I'm probably going to pick this up in a few weeks and I'm glad there is a sequel planned.

I would love a more non-linear gameplay. also, I wish there are something more than just battling for every mission, Bejeweled is a great game. don't you wish you can battle in some other classical games? Maybe Bejeweled battle for one mission and Tertris battle for another, and someone else for the third.
I guess I'm looking for variable. It's a good, it's only good because it was a complete surprise. I finished the game twice (2 different character). I really don't like the replay value for this game. my girlfriend loves it tho. I haven't tried the multiplayer mode, hope that's good.
oh, the game's a bit short.. around 4-5 hours, I wish next game can be a little longer, you know, more like a PSP game than a DS game.

Oh, the multiplayer's good. Real good.
My personal favourite class is Knight combined with DeathGaze and Web. I just wish in multiplayer, the first player who can match a gem should be rewarded the first turn, not decided by your cunning.
Just make sure you're having enough resistances to block your opponent deadly spells like deathbringer or flaming skulls.
And one more thing I forgot to add, please balance the skills on the next game. Skills like Deathbringer and Death Gaze combined with high battle stats is actually a one hit kill move, making fighting the CPU ridiculously easy. Also kills your friends in 1 shot if they didn't resist it.
These kinda skills, in my opinion, should not present in the next game, one hit kill moves should never appear on a puzzle game, because it doesn't feel like playing a puzzle anymore when you can anyone with a press of a button.

I'm still waiting for my copy and played the demo until there was truely nothing left to do -- so I guess the first part has all I need. If I was to choose more classes and some additions to the storyline would be nice. Having a different beginning for the different classes like someone mentioned would be nice. Nothing major, really.

Will the sequel feature a CPU player who DOESN'T cheat? I swear, the game knows what's going to fall onto the screen before it even makes a move. Or perhaps it's orchestrating it that way. Either way, I can't see any other possible explanation for how the game can make five-turns-in-a-row-based-on-a-cascade-from-a-simple-three-in-a-row-combination every time I play it.

Kichigai Mentat, I can assure you the CPU does NOT cheat.. It is a bit hard in the beginning of the game, because you don't have the right spells yet, but later in the game, you will overwhelm the CPU quite easily.
If you're really paying attention to the board, you can also come up with combos just like the CPU, if not, BETTER combos than the CPU. Trust me on this. If you can see me playing, perhaps you'll say that I'm cheating. Hehe. I'm saying this because I can pull off better combos than the CPU, simply because the CPU does NOT cheat.
And one more thing to add, in the next game, please please please, add infrastructure. This game really needs an online mode.
PSPFanboy, can you forward these suggestions to the developer? Thank you so much. :)

Actually, I just noticed today what Kichigai Mentat brought up. The computer very rarely, if at all, misses a 4-combo that is on the screen. This morning though, I noticed in a battle that at one point instead of going for the obvious 4-combo, it matched 3 at the top of the screen, which then brought down a gem from the line above that completed a 4-combo for it. It then proceeded to complete the obvious combo it avoided previously. It was fishy enough for my mind to scream Shennanigans.
Not that I care too much, the AI can't beat me often, even with cheating :)

I really think this game should have touch screen, stylus support, and maybe even dual screens. That would make for one hell of a sequel.
Just kidding, of course! I'm still waiting for PQ1 to come out for XBLA.

no way, DS version scored everywhere because it's hard to pinpoint that thing on a touchscreen. I would MUCH rather take the PSP version over DS version.

I agree with Kichigai Mentat:
I find it frustrating and it almost seems that the game inflicts a stronger setup when you're playing well. Don't even mess with bursting gems at the top of the screen or else the AI comes back with 3 and 4 combo'd skulls...
Overall I'm satisfied with the game, but I want the inventory and shops to be improved... for some reason i hate shopping.

Hahaha, cheating? This is starting to sound like the Gamefaqs boards. The computer is bound to hit a combo here and there. Don't you guys? Haven't any of you hit a big combo to close out a battle? We all notice these things when the AI does it, but start to pay attention to when luck shines on YOU, and maybe you'll stop whining.
I find it hard to believe that the complainers have gotten very far in this game. At higher levels, the computer actually goes down TOO fast.
