D'oh! This GameTrailers user has an easy way of increasing the volume of his PSP speakers ... with his bare hands! By placing his hands under the speakers, the sound waves bounce back up, instead of away from the listener. Wow! Simple science that gets great results. See it in action, and then try it for yourself.

Even Simpler: Place Your PSP On A Flat Surface, Standing Up..
Make Sure The PSP Leans A Little Away From You, Or Elese The Sound Will Go The Other Way..
that is, of course, if you want to play music and movies..

OK, it is a science if you want to get technical. But science is a really broad term and its hardly used in academia to descibe something that's physics as "science". At least, this is the case in my university.

Man, I was hoping htis had something to do with increasing the volume of my PSP headphones without having to buy some third party plug in amp and then pluggin my headphones into the amp. :(
Any body hack the volume of their PSP for headphones?

You're correct, Wisemanleo. It's just that I forgot we're at PSPfanboy University, rather than PSPfanboy, the blog.
No sorry, I just couldn't resist that one. I apologise; I was just having some fun.
Besides, I was just taking a piss on the idea that you said it's 'not science' when your real goal was to state that it's a very specific branch of science - physics.
Sorry.

Aaron Walker, buying third-party headphones helps there. The headphones from Sony are limited in their total output, according to some standard or so. Third-party headphones actually are louder already. Just take your PSP to a electronics-shop and try it out there.

Daniel, I wish I could try some out. I did buy third party headphones, just wish they could be louder.
I never used Sony's headphones but still find the volume lower than I would like while at the gym or trying to listen in the car. I was hoping there was a hack to raise the volume some. Oh well, guess I will have to keep searching.

I went looking for head phones today but didn't buy any since you can't take them out of the package and try them out lol
But I was wondering...whats the best set of headphones out there for the psp? I do listin to music and watch movies but the sound on the psp head phones are so low.

Get in ear head-phones - Senheiser are the best. Sony do Ex71s which are cheaper but they fall apart after a year.

Ugh, I hate the in-the-ear earbuds. Guess I'll either have to live with it or get that third party pre-amp thingy I saw. Re-coding my MP3s to a higher bit rate also seemed to help a little but it will be time consuming to go back and re-do all of them.

aaron, buy noise-cancelling earbuds like the kind shure makes. i got the shure e2c for 100 bucks and not only are they louder, but they greatly diminish extraneous noise.
