Have you heard of Silverfall? This PC hack 'n slash RPG came and went pretty silently, failing to earn the attention of many gamers. It looks like the newly announced PSP version may do the same, considering its stealthy debut announcement. The original game failed to earn the respect of critics, with many noting its highly derivative gameplay. We hope that Kiev Games will take all the criticism the original earned and apply it to the PSP version--we can certainly use a solid Diablo-style RPG.
Read more about the game at To the Game, and check out a trailer of the PC version, after the cut.
[Thanks, Raviv!]
[Update: Take-Two is publishing the game in Europe. Check out IGN for first screenshots of the game.]

What failed to stir much interest in the PC market could make a much bigger splash on PSP. It looks good, and we could use another hack & slash.
I always kind of liked Untold Legends 1 & 2 and thought Dungeon Siege was a solid title, but H&S type games just suit the PSP. Depending on how it plays, it could be a very welcome addition.

I did a hands-on preview of Silverfall for RPGWatch (http://www.rpgwatch.com/show/article?articleid=23&ref=0&id=125), but have made little progress in the 'real' game ...
But I think that the nice cel-shaded style and hack'n'slash gameplay would translate well to the PSP if they could control the load times - the game itself is relatively fun.

Oh, meant to mention that action-RPG's like this are a perfect fit for the control system of the PSP ...

Nice! I've always enjoyed these kind of hack and slash RPGs. I had a blast with Untold Legends 1 & 2; Dungeon Siege; even Marvel UA and X-Men Legends II.
But I was looking for some more Diablo-style action and depth, and even though Untold Legends and Dungeon Siege came close to offering such depth, I was still left wanting something more from each title. Here's to hoping that Silverfall will offer that "something more".
