Savage Entertainment is working on a PSP Transformers game based on the movie. Savage has previously made Star Wars Battlefront 2 and Scooby Doo for the PSP, so they have experience with Sony's portable. Based on Micheal Bay's upcoming Transformers movie, Transformers: The Game the title will feature Optimus Prime, Megatron, Starscream among other well known robots and give players the choice to play Autobot and save the world or Decepticon and try to take it over. Each Transformer has their own set of skills and abilities and players can choose at any moment to move from robot to vehicle form.
Over the course of the game, players will travel through fully destructible environments and each character's scale and weight will affect how they fight. You'll use range and melee combat to fight your way to your ultimate goal. The console versions are being created by Traveler's Tales of Lego Star Wars fame and all versions are said to have similar content, which is very good considering how well Lego Star Wars worked on the PSP. Of course the PSP edition has exclusive content. This time it comes in the form of an expanded storyline and multiplayer.
The last Transformers game (for PS2) was quite enjoyable and I have high hopes for this rendition. Anyone else looking forward to this game?

I loved transformers when I was kid and I'm looking forward to this game more than the actual movie. I'm just afraid the movie will suck and have an adverse effect on the game.

...if it's a shooter, with stunning visuals like the PS2 game based on the Minicon Saga, then I'm for it!

I've gotta admit that I've been a Transformers fan for as long as I can remember, probably longer. But I'll also agree that the majority of Transformers games released have been pretty lackluster. I like hearing that the PS2 Minicon Wars title was received somewhat well, though I skipped that title on principle. I wasn't a fan of the offshoot that was Armada; I'm more of a G1 continuity guy. That said, the movie looks somewhat promising, and though it definitely won't compare to the memories of my childhood, I'm sure it'll be excellent popcorn fodder. And taking the franchise to a sandbox game format sounds awesome. I'm definitely getting this game on at least one platform, probably PSP... the only question is whether or not I'll also get it for Wii or PS2 or something. Hrmmm....

I don't know about Scooby Doo, but the PSP port of SW:BFII is glitchy & prone to freezing the PSP, and corrupting your game profile. Based on that, not sure how much I'd bank on Savage's 'experience' with the PSP.

No. they sucked! period. No need to sugar coat it. It is what it is.. Almost every doggon transformers game that has come out was beyond disappointing. And that's tough for me because i've loved Transformers since the cartoon. So to see the mess that developers have made out of this story just makes me sick! They're really going to have to impress me if I'm going to buy the game. Then again, i've had my experiences and i just don't see developers going anywhere with that franchise..
