Square Enix has announced a release date for their upcoming Final Fantasy remake will be hitting Japan on April 19th for 3,800 yen. While Final Fantasy II wasn't given an exact date, Square Enix did say that we can expect a Japanese release around May, so not long to wait in any case. No release dates for either Final Fantasy were given for outside of Japan yet, but it's only a matter of time.
Both games are part of Final Fantasy's 20th anniversary celebration. The games will feature improved graphics and gameplay like the Game Boy Advance and Playstation remakes. You can read all our Final Fantasy coverage in the meantime to help the wait go by.

So they really *are* going to take 2 NES games that were released as in updated and expanded form on a single GBA cart, jazz up the visuals and audio a bit, and sell them on two separate UMD disks? Do they *want* people to hate the PSP? WTF are they thinking - 3800 Yen is ~$30 ... so $60 to get FF I & II with slightly better audio / video ... but almost certainly much longer load times ...
Arrogant idiots.

Re: #2 "I really dont think there will be longer load times"
Really? So from power-on to game will be only several seconds, and loading a dungeon will be near-instant? Color me skeptical ... remember this is the platform that has a Dungeon Siege game that makes the PC load times seem short ...

There definitely will be longer load times. Ports like Breath of Fire III or the Midway Arcade Treasure Collection have proven that.
I myself would just install a GBA-emulator on your PSP (every firmware except 3.10 is downgradable atm) and play the GBA-versions. I own the titles for the PlayStation (PSX), so from a morale standpoint, this should be OK. Although licensing surely prohibits it...
And I agree with #1 that they really try to make us hate the PSP. Absolutely moronic.
