Does
Dark_Alex ever sleep? I don't think so, as he's
updated his open-edition custom firmware yet again. The last edition unlocked
full resolution video, and now Dark_Alex has lifted the bitrate limit, making it even easier to run high-quality video off your homebrew-enabled PSP. Word to the wise, however: just because your system will be able to recognize video up to 16Mbps doesn't mean the system will be capable of actually displaying it. 768Kbps is more than enough for PSP video, but being able to increase the quality even a little is a nice option. Shouldn't Sony be taking notes?
Other changes include a faster OE boot, changeable XMB speed, and functional wi-fi at 333MHz. Sony looks like its sleeping when compared to the impressive work Dark_Alex has done so far.

Jake,
Not necessarily. I mean yeah, no one is naive enought to think that it isn't used for pirated games, but there are users out there that strictly run homebrew applications and backups of previously owned games (PSP and PSX with PopStation)

Jake, no offence but your an idiot (or at least putting everyone in the same hat, there is a posey word for that but it escapes me).
I would love to be able to run that software, not for pirating, but because is does what the sonyware SHOULD do unlocks the potential of the system.
Sony should Hire him on the condition that he is allowed to continue as is, but they wont as they as a corperate thing have to avoid any code that allows pirating.
As i said in another topic. I have PS1 games why should I buy them again?? 3.03OE allows me to use them.
It is an INDIVIDUAL, consious decision to pirate something. Not a function of availability.
I have the ability and knowledge to copy DVD's but i would NEVER do it. It just gives the pen pushes more reason to over charge! (although thats a visious circle)
Rant over...
GO DARK ALEX. (Design me a 3.03 to 3.03OE converter, oh go on :)

Is Dark_Alex even a real person? Maybe he's an entire division of Microsoft R&D dedicated to making Sony look bad. Goodness knows he puts out enough.
Dark Alex is a truly epic man.

I was making a reference to Andrew Yoon's ignorant comment "Personally, I'll keep upgrading to Sony's official firmware because I actually like playing legal games." on the article "Stop asking if you can downgrade your 3.03 system".
Homebrew isn't for pirating I was just making a sarcastic remark.

You know what would be really funny? Remember that blog scheme that Sony hoisted a while back? What if... Dark Alex IS actually working for Sony? What if Sony has had this planned all along. Sure you can say that would be a ridiculous idea and assumption... but... remember during the PS3 conference where Sony encouraged hacking of the PS3. Maybe Dark Alex is actually already helping Sony out undercover and creating this illusion that there is a vigilante out there trying to hack the PSP, and Dark Alex reveals the great potential of the PSP and while most people bash Sony for all the problems, having Dark Alex be the hero would help aid in their sales. Its an attempt to show people that the PSP can be hacked and many great things can come of it, though Sony is restricted to do anything that aids in piracy and anything that violates any laws... Dark Alex... a person, who is considered by all to be NOT a part of Sony, can do w/e he wants.

About the PSP Fanboy Forum, that idea would work similarly to the PSP-Vault forum.

Jake needs to be slapped. I used OE-B (up until right now - I'm currently upgrading to OE-C as we speak) and I only use it for homebrew. I don't pirate stuff, not even backups of legally owned games. Just for homebrew. So this is very useful to me.

Snap. This OE firmware is getting too good. I seriously updated to 2.81 from 2.80 way back when there was only tiff tetris, (not knowing about it, I updated none the wiser, and have regretted it ever since).
Anyone else think that there should be a PSP Fanboy forum?
