Gamasutra is reporting that Sony reps have confirmed the next PS1 titles that will be hitting the PlayStation Store. If racing fans didn't like the last offering, then this one should really excite them since the update will include both Wipeout and Jet Moto. Sony didn't give a firm release for the titles, but I'm betting by the end of next week or the start of the following week these games will be playable on your PSP. For those who are unsure of how to get these PS1 games on your PSP, right now the only method is to own a PS3 and buy them off the PlayStation Store. Sony has said eventually there will be another solution in place for PSP owners, but when people like myself are insane enough to buy a PS3 just for this functionality, they may take their time unlocking the feature.
[Update 1: Changed the incorrect PSP to PS3]

Jet Moto was a really fun game, but where are the games like Loaded, Colony Wars, Resident Evil and Silent Hill? Those titles would rock on the PSP.

Again a psone title with a decent successor on the PSP. And wipeout pure even includes the old tracks! So F*CK it, making wipeout available as a psone download is one of the most stupid things sony has ever done. And sony does a lot of stupid things...

Aww come on these games are crap, it's bad enough that I can't download these games without a PS3. Where are all the final fantasy games, resident evil, or castlevania SOTN. Who the hell handles releasing these games, fire that clown.

We can not reasonably blame Sony for their current lack of third-party titles. After all, Sony can't(legally) put IPs they don't own on their downlaod system, without permission from the IP owners. Everybody currently wants the third-party titles from Konami, Square-enix, and Capcom. If these companies refuse the request, Sony can't put pressure on them as that would make them mad at Sony, which in turn could lead to the cancelation of future PSP and PS3 titles.
Konami is hyping up SotN for the XboxLive, so it is going to be a couple of months at least before they agree to let it put on PS1 download service. I think Konami will not be putting MGS on it, due to the demand for a MGS:PO2.
Capcom will not put Street Fighter or Darkstalkers game for download, because they already got a version of them actual PSP games. Puzzle Fighter is in an upcoming compilation PSP game, you can probably expect Puzzle Fighter 2 to be in the ev

All i know is that most of my favorite games of all time are on the ps1 and Jet moto is definitely in my Top 10 making this possibly the best news i've heard on the PS front and certainly my favorite downloadable PS1 game so far. If only i could play Resident Evil, Silent Hill, and Blood Omen i'd be set.

I don't know how many people will actually see this, as this blog seems to have very few comments on it compared to most (even WoW Insider has more...what does that say about the PSP?)
Anyway. Forcing people to have a PS3 to buy PS1 games you may already own your PSP is just plain stupid. I love the design and potential of the PSP (there's that word again) but Sony just doesn't seem to be capable of marketing anything successfully anymore.
If it wasn't for Dark_Alex, I honestly don't think my PSP would ever get used, except for when I go away. 360 & DS vs PS3 and PSP? Look at the games, and wonder what happened to the giant that was SCE.
