The number of RPGs scheduled to come out this year on PSP would not be able to be counted on two hands. In fact, you'd need more than three hands to count them and then you're in Goro territory. Point is, if you're an RPG fan, PSP is the system to own this year. Don't believe me? Well here's the list of RPGs coming out in 2007 according to IGN's release list:
January
Legend of the Heroes III: Song of the Ocean
February
Gurumin: A Monstrous Adventure
Monster Kingdom: Jewel Summoner
March
Valhalla Knights
Dungeons & Dragons: Tactics
April
The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion
Riviera
Quarter 2
Alien Syndrome
Quarter 4
DC Universe RPG
TBA 2007
Legend of the River King
Far East of Eden: The Fourth Apocalypse
Landstalker
Harvest Moon Boy & Girl
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Jeanne d'Arc
Final Fantasy Tactics
I don't even want to know what the collective amount of hours all these RPGs would take to beat. Which of these are you looking forward to playing most?

Harvest Moon, Crisis Core, Tactics, and Jeanne d'Arc all look great to me. But with time and financial considerations, I will probably only end up getting Crisis Core.
Still, it's good to see that the PSP is getting some solid RPGs.

Valhalla Knights, Crisis Core, Elder Scrolls, Tales of Destiny 2 (I Like to Import), Dungeons and Dragons Tactics, Final Fantasy Tactics (Loved the first one on the PSP). I have a question for you guys. Is Landstalker based on Sega's classic RPG that was for the Sega Genesis? If it is, then I would be interested in that as well :-)

Hmm, so many RPGs, so little time. My top three would be the following:
Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy Tactics
Dungeons & Dragons: Tactics
Does this mean it is finally THE year to own a PSP? Some of us have been kind of waiting...

I have played the import of Valhalla Knights and Monster Kingdom, and believe me, both are solid RPGs! Can't wait to play the English version!

God, I HATE Japanese style RPGs with their stupid round based combat, special attacks, anime and incoherent plot. But it's hard to see not one decent RPG (Japanese or otherwise) has appeared on the PSP yet. The DS & GBA have Pokemon and wannabe games coming out the eyeballs so it can't be a question of power.
Here's hoping Oblivion at least preserves some of the aspects of its PC / 360 / PS3 big brother in the conversion. Somehow I don't have high hopes though as this is Bethesda we're talking about - masters of inconsistency.

Final Fantasy:Crisi Core of course
and
Jewel Summoner
I just hope I don't have to wait for the german releases .. the localization tends to sound horribly like a kids anime series and would take at least half a year anyway..

goro only has 3 fingers per hand or a total of 12 fingers. lucky for you the prince should be able to spare 4 of his six toes to tabulate that final score of 16.

Its great to see Harvest Moon finaly coming out. Now I just want to see the other HM game. The one set in the future. Any thing FF I will be getting that. Gurumin is a game I thought looks like one for girls. But after seeing how it looks in trailers I will have to pick that one up. Valhalla Knights that game should be a good one. From what I have heard the battle system is like FFXII so thats cool.
The Elder Scrolls Travels: Oblivion this should be one sweet long game. That is if it is any thing like the other Elder Scrolls games.
Riviera I played that before on the gameboy and it was good but. This version is going to have new cut scenes and full voice which the other version did not have. Any thing by Level5 should be good so I can't wait to play Jeanne d'Arc.
As for Landstalker If it is like the versions for Genesis and Saturn this should be one great game. I will be looking forward to see what Sega can do with this game. DC Universe RPG is from Sony and from what I heard will also be on the PS3. It is to be the first MMO game out there and there is to be some kind of link up between the two versions. So I will be looking out for this also.
Its nice to know I have a job or I would only be able to get these games on Holidays or my Birthday. So RPGs fans sure have some nice games to look forward too.
I just have to say one thing people who say the PSP is dead are right. There is nothing that will make people want one of the PSPs.
I hope I do not need to spell it out. But I hope you know what I am really saying.

I remain skeptical ... I mean, we had a dozen or so RPG's last year, and they were mediocre at best. A couple were 'good', but every single one required a '...but...' when describing it!
I'm looking forward to D&D Tactics, the Elder Scrolls game and the upcoming Legend of Heroes. Also the Final Fantasy VII game. I am hard pressed to think that all of those will be good, have good controls and not atrocious load times. But I can hope ...

True of any platform. Even the highly vaunted FFIII on DS had reviewers voicing serious caveats (although a pretty compelling game overall).
Even so, I agree that I'd rather see a few really good stand out titles that are clearly AA+ level instead of lots of mixed-review ones.

I'm glad they're finally putting some RPGs on the PSP, but it would almost be worth the price of a PS3 if the Online Store sold the original FFVII for download.

I bought a PSOne just to play FFVIII (yeah, VIII!).
I bought a PSP to play Crisis Core and use it as an MP3 player (finding later that I could run homebrew on it...)
I guess this will be a really good year for the PSP.
Now... where can I get a PS one used FFVII game here in Quebec (canada)? ( My psOne still works...)
*sighs
I hate loving RPGs ...(...)

this is looking like a good year to own a PSP if you're into RPGs. I still hate the idea of paying the same price for a portable game that i would a PS2 game. But it's still nice to see the PSP with some solid titles.
