I still can't figure out if my PS3 can do custom backgrounds, but I do know my PSP can. Because of this and to help spice up our reader's PSPs, we will be showcasing new backgrounds every Saturday for you to marvel at. Backgrounds after the jump...

This first background is just a variant of an actual screenshot from the upcoming Chili Con Carnage. I really had fun with Total Overdose so I can't wait to get my hands on this. Plus, the game has missile riding ala Contra!

I just beat Gitaroo-Man Lives! a few days ago and I'm not sure the songs from it will ever leave my brain. I arranged official art from the game into a minimalist composition, but it works for Gitaroo. Put this as your background and then go buy the game if you haven't already.

Lastly there is the weekly non-video game related background and this week it comes from Afro Samurai. If you like anime even in the slightest I beg you to watch this show.
To put these as your PSP background, you can either save them on your computer and transfer them to your PSP, or if you're browsing this site on PSP, you can save them directly and when you're viewing the image on the PSP just hit the triangle button to bring up the image options and select "Set as Wallpaper".
Feel free to e-mail in suggestions for what you'd like to see in future updates and enjoy

The PS3 doesn't allow for custom backgrounds, but I don't think that will last for too long.

To put a custom background on your PS3 that will stay as long as your PS3 is powered up you can look at a photo in full screen mode and then push the PS button.
