Have you ever wondered how many games on the PSP have earned the Achievement of selling more than a million copies? According to data compiled from VG Charts, there are eight games so far that have sold such a mythic amount of copies. As expected, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories tops the charts, with a whopping 3.49 million copies sold! And that's with zero sold in Japan. Taking a look at the charts, it's clear that the Japanese have very different tastes than the Americans. For example, while Star Wars: Battlefront II did surprisingly well here, it was barely noticed in Japan. Monster Hunter Portable, on the other hand, became a million seller almost by itself in Japan.
While the PSP has an impressive share of game sales, it still needs to think of a cross-cultural hit if it's ever to succeed like the Nintendo DS. The rival console has produced 21 million sellers so far, and cross-cultural successes (like Nintendogs and Brain Age) undoubtedly helped a lot.

That's some cool info - I thought that GTA:LCS was the only one! You can go there and look at the DS data as well.
What was really interesting was the GBA data - sure there are >50 million sellers, but the numbers aren't as impressive as you might expect based on the amount of systems and amount of time it has been around.

The more I read [ie: drool over] PSPFANBOY, the more it seems that IGN's PSP channel is full of lazy, bureaucratic, wannabe 'unbiased', and creepily unshaven editors (http://ps3.ign.com/articles/749/749556p1.html - Roper).
On a daily basis, they report (barely) on maybe 2-4 headlines while PSP lays down the quality, game price busting, and humor smackdown! Maybe its me and my cynical, inner urban viewpoint but while IGN snacks on wine and cheese, PSP Fanboy's got the goods for the masses.
I understand if no one replies to this post, since starting a little debacle between people working towards the same goal just on two teams, but IGN needs to step up their game [no pun intended].
In any case, keep up the good work!

Wow. Now imagine how many copies they would have sold if PSP wasn't a horrible failure!

What I wanna know now is where all this stuff about "The PSP software sales are at 2.8mil" came from. Obviously if there are 8 million sellers, the forementioned figure of 2.8mil is wrong.
At any rate, this is really good news - and much more success than any handheld has had against Nintendo's products.

And the X-Box 360 also has 8 million+ sellers, making the PSP just as successful if you want to look at it that way.
