If you're like me, you're going to download a ton of
old new PSone games to your PSP via your PLAYSTATION 3. Those suckers take up a whole lot of space. Thankfully,
Buy.com seems to be giving away these 4GB Memory Stick Duos, for only $65. The same kind go for $90 on amazon.com, meaning you're saving quite a bit of cash.
Once these babies arrive to my doorstep, I'll be downloading every single PSone game and reviewing them for you all. Sweet, no?

Andrew! I didn't know you had a PS3? Luck bastard! :-)
Well, I already have a 4GB stick (bought it for ~130 Euro).
I'd like to see 8GB sticks, though :-)

Firmware 2.81 removed the 4GB limit for what the PSP can handle. With 2.81+, the PSP can use 8GB memory stick duos.

The "Gaming" cards are targeted towards gamers that are willing to pay a mark-up. It's simply marketing, nothing else.

What is the difference between a normal Sandisk Pro Duo card and a Sandisk gaming pro Duo card that is more than twice the price?

I bought this card yesterday after seeing it on Dealnews. The card already shipped this morning... definitely an amazing price for so much storage space.

It still amazes me that 4GB gets people excited at $65.
80-120GB SATA hard drives can be found for that much. Sure, it's not portable, but come on. $65 for 4GB is like paying $30,000 for a Geo Metro.
I'm going to wait until the price drops further. I think $40 is fair.

An SATA HDD compared to FLASH MEDIA? Yeah, that's not apples to oranges or anything... You really do have Selective Logic Syndrome.
Memory Stick pricing has dropped into line with other flash media in recent years. Anyone who thinks $65 for 4GB on a chip smaller than a postage stamp is "like paying $30,000 for a Geo Metro" must have their head up their ass.
Then again, look who I'm talking to. Mr. Everything Sony is Crap - Everything Nintendo is Win.

Pixelator, first off, it's ridiculous to have Memory Stick when SD mini/micro is pretty much a standard for everything else. And I never said anything Sony is crap. I said anything that uses a laser to read a Disc that is made by Sony is crap. Sony TV's, Cameras, and Games are good products.
My point is pricing. Just because it's flash media doesn't mean that the storage is inherently worth 16x more money (at this price, down from 62x). 4GB is 4GB of space. Sure, access times are faster, but not enough to justify the price increase. You're paying more for less. If you can lug around a PSP and an equalled sized case for PSP games, an external USB drive isn't really out of the question. Or a gamecase with a USB drive in it...hmmm...
If I hurt your Sony pride, I honestly apologize. The PS1 was a great system, the PS2 not so much, and the PS3 is to-be-determined. Still waiting for the PSP to woo me with FF7:CC. If it's any consolation, I'm finding the DS isn't all it's cracked up to be anymore either.

"it's ridiculous to have Memory Stick"
Not if you're Sony. It's their proprietary format, so they're going to use it - regardless of what you or I might prefer. It's about the same price as SD, so it's not that big a deal anymore.
"My point is pricing. Just because it's flash media doesn't mean that the storage is inherently worth 16x more money"
And that's where you show you're an ignoramus. Flash media costs more to produce than a low capacity HDD. It's an entirely different media. You have 4GB in a container the size of your frigging THUMBNAIL.
"You're paying more for less."
Yes, and in terms of size, that's how technology works, in case you've had your head in the sand for the past 50 or so years.
"Still waiting for the PSP to woo me with FF7:CC."
Dude, I've almost certainly owned more Nintendo products than you have, and I've probably owned FEWER Sony products than most people using this blog. So 'Sony Pride' doesn't mean shit to me, dude.
As for waiting for the PSP to 'woo' you... Don't make me laugh -- your blogs and past comments clearly illustrate your hatred for Sony products. End of story. Nothing's going to 'woo' you to liking the PSP, especially if the recent spate of AA+ titles haven't. Your bias is legend, pal.

CircuitCity has a san disk memory stick on sale for
$79.99 After $30 Mail-In Rebate* & $40 Instant Savings
Reg. 149.99 thru Dec 16,2006.
Here is the sweet part if you buy the 4gig card you are suppose to get a additional 1GB Memory Stick PRO duo for free!
I went to their site circuitcity.com then i went to the weekly ad section. Once there do a search in the weekly ad and type "sony memory stick" (make sure you search the weekly ad and not the website)
http://circuitcity.shoplocal.com/circuitcity/default.aspx?action=search&storeid=2396857&searchtext=sony+memory+stick
There you will find the deal.
When I went to circuit city to try it out they didn't know what the hell i was talking about so you might have to show them how to find it on their website, while you're in the store.
I tried it out and it worked for me but my buddy tried it out and they told him it was a web only offer, which is bs since it doesn't say that in the ad. If they give you the run around it's probably because they don't know how to ring it up. I think someone screwed up the ad,anyways in the end i got 5gigs for only $79. Oh by the way since they didn't know how to ring it up they just gave it to me for $79 without rebates.
hope this helps any of you out there looking for more memory for your psp.
